Find out what German restaurants to try in Salzburg. It’s been 200 years or so since he lived here, but Mozart is still very much Salzburg’s favorite son. Visit the composer’s residence and birthplace, then explore the Altstadt (Old City), taking in the baroque architecture. If your musical tastes run more "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" than "Requiem in D Minor," catch one of the many Sound of Music tours and follow in the footsteps of the Von Trapps.

Our experience was different from some of the others here. We had wonderful service and tasty food. Everyone was pleasant and we went back the next day for breakfast and had another good experience. We even bought some of the homemade jam!

Great option if you're staying out on Moosstrasse (or if you want to get out of central Salzburg). The food was good and affordable, and had a really nice atmosphere.

This place gets a large number of foreign tourists but cannot be recommended very highly. We first had some soup, which was very good, even though one soup was not hot enough. My wife ordered a glass of red house wine, which was undrinkable. We sent it back but were charged for it in full anyway. Then we had two kinds of schnitzel. They were as thin as cardboard and extremely dry. Worst we ever had anywhere. The apple strudle dessert was quite good. All in all a very mixed experience. Would not go back.

Directly accessible from the Herbert-von-Karajan-Square and the Festival Hall or via the main hotel entrance in the Getreidegasse in Salzburg's Old Town, Restaurant Goldener Hirsch is a landmark of Salzburg: What was once a blacksmith's shop is nowadays S
This was a restaurant my wife insisted we visit. She had heard wonderful stories about it from her father; they were all true. The dining room is unassuming. The service a bit formal, but prompt and very attentive. The food was wonderful, in fact we had two meals there during our three days in Salzburg. If you're looking for a wonderful, authentic, relaxing, pseudo-formal Austrian meal in Salzburg, call for a reservation and enjoy.

Easy to find, very busy. Service was ok, quite slow to bring the bill. Happy and friendly enough. Food is good. Look at the menu before going as there are only a few options.

The Braurestaurant IMLAUER is not only popular with guests from around the world. Locals are also very fond of this centrally located restaurant. The reasons for this popularity are of course the traditional cuisine, the atmosphere and the typical Austria

The Bärenwirt, located in the historic district Mülln, is one of the oldest inns in Salzburg. Hospitality plays an important role since 1663 and the traditional inn is run with a lot of personal commitment. At the Bärenwirt you enjoy traditional Austrian
To some extent, these Salzburg city centre Austrian restaurants have been victims of their own success through published reviews, and in some cases standards may have slipped. This is a bustling, 'big business' establishment with a number of dining areas. We were given a small side room with one other table which was occupied by a drunken female who proceeded to swear offensively throughout our meal. We couldn't get out quickly enough, having decided to forgo our dessert. Brisk service and average food. I recommend the Zum Fidelen Affen, but it's also busy.

Die Weisse is a quintessential biergarten located in a quiet section of Salzburg. We were told that it is primarily frequented by locals; but, there were many tourists there on the night that we visited. They have both indoor and outdoor seating in a casual setting. We selected some of the local specialties and were very pleased with our selections. This restaurant is worth seeking out.

Great food! Not expensive yet very tasty. Super friendly owner who makes you feel very welcome. The brewery is slightly outside Salzburg altstad but close enough. Authentic atmosphere.
