Applewine restaurant with traditional local Frankfurt cuisine and typical drinks. Cash only - no debit or credit cards.
Place was crowded when we visited in May. Seating at a long table was quick and service was great. We went with the Ebbelwoi Apple wine, which is a nice accompaniment to sausage and sauerkraut. We had the Kartoffelworst (sausage with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes) and the Gekochtes Rippchen (pork cutlet, apple sauerkraut, mashed potatoes). Good food and a lively and friendly environment. There are many places to get this type of traditional meal and this one is particularly economical.

I need to begin this review by explaining why I need to call the Gasthaus zum Stern a hidden gem, when it is located on Offenbach's Wilhelmsplatz, which is widely known for its many good restaurants. Of all the Wilhelmsplatz places, it has the smallest sign in the least obvious colours, the least obvious door, and least amount of sidewalk space occupied by tables, chairs, and smoking patrons. It may also be smaller than the other restaurants around the square. In fact, when I made the reservation, I was not even quite sure where on Wilhelmsplatz it was, despite walking past the square almost every day.Entering the restaurant, we found a small restaurant, carefully decorated in a no-nonsense style, and very welcoming staff. The menu consists of carefully chosen food and drink. It is not an overbearing selection, but rather an assortment of seasonal foods. As a large group, we, of course, all had different meals. As a family, we, of course, shared them... All were very, very good. The Gasthaus zum Stern may very well be my new favourite Wilhelmsplatz eatery. A true star!

Apfelwein (apple wine) is pressed and fermented in the basement of this establishment. Apfelwein is a tradition in the state of Hesse, and is delicious. It is served in a heavy salt-glazed pottery pitcher to keep it cool. At the Klein family establishment (for generations), the food is also excellent, the service friendly and helpful. There is even a bowling alley on site! You can reach this via subway from Frankfurt. It is charming indeed. We went back several times!

With restaurants such as Tafelspitz & Soehne across the town square from here, it's not an easy feat to convince diners to give the Beau d'Eau a try, but rather late on a quiet evening we did. There weren't many guests left, and the waitress tended to out table promptly. We ordered, and the food arrived in record time.It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. The serving sizes could have been a tad more generous, but then again, other places might even try to feed you less. All in all, so far, the dining aspect didn't offer us reason for serious complaint, but also didn't entice us to return given that there are truly fantastic restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Two things, however, need to be pointed out:1. The waitress was great, and usually would have earned this restaurant a better service rating than 3 out of 5. However, when we were ready to pay, we couldn't find her. Turns out she was outside on the sidewalk having a smoke. That in itself is no biggie (for us), but given the time she took, I can only surmise she was taking a day's worth of cigarette breaks at once.2. Right by the entrance their is a rather racialised statue of a black man that is part of the restaurant's décor. Seriously? If there were a rating for "atmosphere" here, that would have earned the place a solid 0 out of 5.

This time round we decided to try the gastronomy scene in Hafen area in Offenbach. There are a few hidden jewels in Offenbach's gastronomical scene, but this one should be described as the crown jewel. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, with an obvious slant on the maritime theme. It is, after all situated in the "Hafen" area of Offenbach. We were greeted by friendly staff, and were ushered to our table. There we had a hard time choosing from the great wine list, but settled for a chilled white wine - La Spinetta - a 2015 Vermentino di Toscana. Here I knew we were not going to be disappointed with the choice. For starters we chose a mixed platter. Available from 2 persons, at â¬8,90 per head.. Great value for money. We had a mix of Tuna, Sardines, Shrimps, Cous Cous, Burrata and all.. Just lovely. As main course we chose the obligatory burger ( I like to think of myself as being an International Burger Tester :-) ). It was the Angus beef Cheese burger.. accompanied by heavenly fries. The misses chose Lamb and couscous.. I was only allowed a bite.. not more, but it should suffice to say that it was awesome !We shared a Tiramisu to round of the evening perfectly. Parking is easy, there is a (cheap for Frankfurt standard) Parking Facility just 50 meters away from the restaurant. we paid â¬2,- for the evening.. That's just a fair price :-)

Very nice atmosphere, great people, very very good food. It looks like a "Neighborhood Restaurant" and it is a restaurant and for the neighborhood but also for ALL.The customers know a lot each other, the owner takes care of each and everyone, and the waiters are running and rushing to make sure everything goes well. There are 2 menus : A steady one and a daily one (fresh from the market wise). We have been there 2 evenings out of 3 (for one of the evenings we have been invited) and the QUALITY and TASTINESS of the food was just GREAT

Located on Offenbach's Wilhelmplatz, the Markthaus is just one of many dining options around that square. Competition is stiff - but in this town seems to produce a cluster of excellent restaurants. The Markthaus can probably best be characterised as specialising in regional dishes from the region of Hesse, and they do it well. Three generations of a family fed and happy, with the one caveat that the Markthaus may want to try a little harder to offer vegetarians a few interesting dinner options, too.

This family owned restaurant has friendly atmosphere and super service. Menu is short but food is the best from local kitchen! The Speyereck offers the "root menu" also repeatedly seasonal dishes. Who wants to spend a pleasant evening with great food and a nice atmosphere, really can not ignore the Speyereck!

We came here tonight without a reservation and very much enjoyed our stay. The place is very nicely designed and even offered live music. Our waiter was amazing, he came back so many times to check on us, he knew our entire drink order which we placed with his colleague and he really made our evening.Food was very good and we enjoyed the local appetizers (Tapas from Hesse), the steak and salads.I would definitely be back.
