This is located immediately next to reception in Best Western Kastell hotel. The receipt shows Best Western. But it's independent. Cash or card. No charging to room. Friendly, efficient staff. Fairly obvious they'd rather be socialising with their friends, many of whom seem to be hanging around in Juls Bar, wandering in and out of the sliding door, presumably to smoke, drafty every time they open it. Lots of hugging and whooping and noise. Not sure if they work at the hotel or bar but it was all very familiar and to be honest I felt I was intruding by asking for a beer. The food was strange but it does say Steak in the title. Steak, steak, steak or steak or burger. No fish. No pizza. A veggie burger option. Steak well cooked. A bit rare for medium but good. Small salad and kraut. Decent food and not bad price for a hotel. But then, it's not part of the hotel. Or is it. It's a bar, and restaurant. There's a cat. It's in behind the bar. It's in between the tables. Don't say aaah, a cute cat. I'm indifferent to cats but I don't want one under my chair and wandering behind the bar. It's not hygienic. Pic attached. Would put me off staying at this hotel.

Located on the pleasant river walk in the small city of Heilbronn in southwestern Germany, Waldhornschenke serves up solid Swabian cooking in an unpretentious, traditional, bar atmosphere and I say all of those things with affection. There was nothing exceptional about the schnitzel platter, just good German home cooking in a low key setting with very fine beer and a room full of locals. I was the only non-German and, I believe, the only non-regular. Both good signs. And I got to practice my rudimentary German which is always fun for me, if not everyone.

It is and feels like a chain. The dishes are all of the kind that can be easily prepared, in advance. The drinks are good, the restaurant is professionally set-up with staff having tablets. Drinks and food come fast, payment is no issue of disputes. Its all electronic. The location is good, just opposite the bridge, coming from town or just before the bridge, coming from the Bahnhof (railway station). In summary, it is a 'safe' (and boring) place. There wont be surprises, good or bad.

Very nice kitchen, very friendly and expierenced staff. Went for the âchefs menuâ including matching wines. Every single course was very well prepared. Itâs a nice âa little bit othersâ kitchen (compared with the many German, Italian, ... kitchen in Heilbronn). Restaurant is a little bit noisy, reservation necessary in the weekend. Hello Riesjaar, thank you for your kind review. We are pleased that you enjoyed our dinner. We look forward to welcoming you again.Kind regards, you Restaurant Beichtstuhl Team.

Already in the last years Pfeffer could convince with their concept of temporarily occupying a former men shop at the Marktplatz. The shop was waiting to be reconstructed, Pfeffer was waiting to move into their current location, a fantastic building, made of local sand stone at the end of Kirchbrunnenstrasse, by the river Neckar. Like at the Marktplatz, Pfeffer serves a reasonably priced set lunch, you choose if you want all three courses or skip starter or dessert. Pfeffer has a small but special selection of open wines, as well as non-alcoholic specialities.Apart from lunch, you might just want to stop by to get some fennel salami, delicious cheese, or maybe a tin of Parisian tea as a gift for an invitation. If you are in town for shopping, have a break and take lunch at Pfeffer's; I also use it as a meeting point with my wife, when we are in town and shopping at different places. She's never been too late, as there was always another glass of wine :-)

We chose the Ratskeller based on reviews, and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly, intelligent, customer-focused and fun. The food was excellent (we had lovely starters, schnitzel and sauerbraten mains, sorbet and a lovely local wine). The restaurant is pretty- it was a hot night and sitting outside after 7 pm was perfect. We will definitely return the next time were in Heilbronn.
