Even though the choice of dishes is not large, the taste local German food is great. It was very nice to stay here and have a lunch after hiking.

Great place to eat and stay. We had a huge family room/apartment. Dinner was really well cooked. Traditional Bavarian style food, full salad bar, and reasonably priced. Kids schnitzel portions were big, friendly staff and several people including owner Rudi spoke English. Great location for cycling, and walking. Near Chimsee and Salzburg

We visited on September 2. The restaurant is not usually open on Wednesdays but as they were already catering an affair they were taking walk-ins as well. The surroundings were warm and comfortable and the owner/manager and the waitress were both friendly and welcoming. Two of us had the 'Lumberjack' special and the other two had the Sauerbraten. We all really enjoyed our meal. (As I was taken as a guest I did not see the total amount of the bill so I cannot comment on how expensive it is or whether it is good value.)If I ever return to Grassau I would definitely dine here again.

Danke.

I went in Germany at the end of september and beginning of october for Octoberfest, with my husband and some friends. We love bavarian area and we love to stay on the country side (near Grassau), because is close for visiting Munchen or some parts of Austria. Is not the first time to Zum Ott and we love to come back there. Beautiful location, close to mountains and Chiemsee, in a valley surrounded by mountains, and also close to autobahn. The atmosphere is warm and nice. The owner, Franz is very friendly and take good care of the customers. We've tried few main courses with beef, and we were impressed. Very tasty and tender. Good job, Franz!!!We can't wait to come back!

Lovely chalet style building which is renowned for its fish restaurant. However we booked rooms here on a bed and breakfast basis and were delighted by our stay. The hosts are very welcoming and we and our children loved the home from home atmosphere. The rooms were a good size, clean and well equipped with lovely views over the hills and the little village of Rottau. Breakfast was very generous with a good choice of fruit juices, cereals, yoghurts and on your table a big basket of rolls and large platter of cheese, ham and salami. If you choose to have dinner here be sure to go in early as it fills up quickly. We did not choose to eat their specialty fish dishes but we can recommend the schnitzel! If you decide to stay make sure you stroll into the village and see the lovely flowers in all the window boxes, the pretty church and traditional cow sheds. It's a little gem!

After a day's travel in our car we came to this hotel by chance and were received with a welcome and friendliness as if we had booked. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony view which made us think we were away from all traffic, although the hotel faced the main through road in the village. A walk through the picturesque village was very interesting as was the well preserved village church with its memorial inscriptions. Our evening meal in the restaurant was of a local flavour, and we enjoyed their special beer as well. On the wall mounted were colourful plates which appeared to attest to the activities of local sports people, and a group of them were sitting in the very alcove underneath enjoying themselves, as were we. The Restaurant was well patronised, locals and some tourists as well, without being overcrowded.

This is a great restaurant, it is filled with locals each evening which is always a good sign. You must try the "Grass Soup", it sounds bad but it taste great. The wiener schnitzel was the best that I have ever had. Go here and you will not be disappointed

This Alm has it all - cute animals for the kids to look at, beautiful surroundings, and delicious food. Everything is homemade which we loved. If you go make sure to get the strawberry milk! The shortest route to the Alm is a 30 minute hike - steep but not too difficult.

We have friends who live in nearby Bernau am Chiemsee and have come to this restaurant several times over many years. We are always delighted to find the service excellent and the food of a very good quality - none of your stodgy dumpling, pork in a thick sauce with indifferent red cabbage: here you can eat food which tastes as if it had just been made for you. My husband said his pork loin was the tenderest he has ever had, the Spaetzle-type pasta was superb. I had Kalbsgeschnetzeltes with a puff pastry top - it was enough for two but absolutely yummy. Good thing is that their prices are never cheeky - the slight increase over the years is perfectly justifiable.
