Das Restaurant Rastkeller wurde im Juni 2017 neu eingerichtet und eröffent. Das Angebot umfasst eine deutsche, regionale, saisonale und moderne Küche.
The Luckau Ratskeller is superb. It was worth the trip. We found well prepared local meals of the Lausitz (Brandenburg) - and even accompanied them with a local wine of Brandenburg (yes, that exists - and some of them are good). The restaurant under the vaults of the town hall is cosy and the service was perfect and friendly. We had "Lausitzer Leibgerichte" (favorite Lausitz dishes: Trout filet, pork aspic, regional curd cheese with horseradish, corniness with apple and onion, and spice cucumber), then Bratfisch von der Lachsforelle (pickled fried salmon trout, as grand-mother prepared it, with potatoes, sour cream milk, linseed oil and regional cucumber). Simply delicious. The Brandenburgian wine was a blend of Solaris and Riesling from Marbachs Wolfshügel - we liked it. The Ratskeller also has a fine selection of wines from more traditional wine regions, in case you do not trust the wines of Brandenburg. We felt almost at home in the Ratskeller - the waiter identifed our Swiss dialect as being from Basel, as he had worked in Switzerland for many years. Luckau is a pretty small town in the Brandenburgian Lausitz, south east of Berlin. Surrounded by a ditch and a town wall you find a small castle on a small hill, a Gothic church built with red bricks, an old Romanesque church now used as a festival hall and baroque gable houses. There is also a real vineyard near Luckau (Juergen Rietze). The city of Luckau was worth the detour when spending our vacation in the Spreewald... AND CLEALY, the Luckau Ratskeller was worth the trip. ¨Dear guestWe say a big THANK YOU! - For your very good rating of the "Ratskeller" with its food and beverage selection, the description of the region and your visit.âVielä Dank & uf Widerluegeâ.

We went to this restaurant because our local family mentioned its reputation of serving garlic intense food which we love. The garlic soup was fantastic! The Argentinean rumpsteak was cooked PERFECTLY I have travelled and dined all over the world and their rumpsteak just set the bar higher! The vegetables were crisp fresh, most likely locally grown in that beautiful region.Clean and beautiful decoration, amicable servers (even for American standards of friendliness).

I know germans love big portions, but this was just ridicolous. We ordered a dish with pork and mushroom sauce. The meat and the sauce was very good. But, we got somewhere between 20-25 boiled potatoes each (!), and no vegetables or salad. All served in a huge pile on a too small plate, which made it difficult to eat. The potatoes were small/medium, but still way too much. The service , the food and the premises are really very good, but the amount was directly unappetizing.

My son and me did stay nearby visiting the Tropical Island. Both hungry for a steak did remember the "western pub" we stayed years ago - and here we go. Friendly staff, cool ambiance and great steaks - beside this kiddies will have fun with the railway running beneath the sealing every once in a while or with bowling. Peanuts at the table as tasty decoration, just throw the shells on to the floor (nice noise while walking). Prices are accordingly and very well. It's a definite dinner place to be when being around!

We were driving from Berlin to Dresden and stopped here for lunch. It is a charming restaurant with delicious food (extremely large portions) for a reasonable price. Two people could have easily split one of the dishes we ordered. I had and egg dish with potatoes, ham and cheese, and my husband had the Schnitzel, both were delicious. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with an English menu since we speak little German. They are located on a lake and have a two lane bowling alley next to the restaurant. It is a short drive off Highway 13 and well worth the detour.

We had dinner with my wife, when we stayed for 1 night in Gasthaus Alter Krug.Service was kind and very fast. Beer from cask was absolutely perfect :)We had 2 stages - my cooked goat-cheese with salad and beetroot chutney was incredible, wife's baby-trout was delicate and delicious and ... my schnitzel was best in my life. (I'm estonian and I eated hundreds of schnitzels in my lifetime).Very good experience.

We came for a late Sunday lunch, and had the best experience ever. Excellent service. Warm, welcoming staff. We expressed curiosity regarding the towns pride: sour gherkins, that lots of Sunday tourists had bought buckets of at the market. The restaurant provided us with a delicate selection of gorgeous gherkins before our main courses were served. What a delight! It was not added on the bill either. The mains were excellent also. If near by - do not miss it!

Beautiful terrace dining experience overlooking the river. A menu that is seasonal and influenced heavily by the availability of local ingredients combined with local culinary flavors. All staff spoke decent English and were very friendly. I would call the pricing totally appropriate and we felt we got a good deal. I would recommend this restaurant highly and would recommend the associated Strandhaus Hotel for overnight stays.
