Reviews on German food in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany. Also known as Brunswick, Braunschweig is, at about 250,000 people, the largest city between Hannover and Berlin. Many of Braunschweig's most historic buildings surround the city center Burgplatz (Castle Square), including the 12th-century Braunschweiger Dom (Brunswick Cathedral), burial place of the famed Henry the Lion, powerful early Duke of Saxony. Henry's rebuilt castle, Burg Dankwarderode, is also on the Burgplatz and is now a museum. The Old City Market is another popular visitor spot.

We were very lucky to find this place. The service was superb. They gave us a sample of the cake to try and explained it to us. The cake had gooseberries and was the best. It is very rare to find a delicious cake like this. There were three of us, and we all managed to get what we wanted in one place. They even organised a beer from another establishment. That level of service is very hard to find. Without a doubt the next time any of us are in Braunschweig this will be the first place we visit. An especial thank you to the Fraulein for making our visit so pleasant.

It is a great place to be. Great typical North German food in a nice German âKneipeâ (typical pub). Reasonable prices. Very friendly and very good service. It has a lot of local flavour. Highly recommended.

Nice place, very "Berlin-style". They offer a good choice of breakfast, at reasonable prices. They have a little wintergarden and some tables outside, for when the sun shines (which I know is not so usual here...)

Pros:1. Very friendly staff2. Good food.3. Fair prices.Cons:1. If you wanna pay with electronic card, such a big place has only ONE freaking card reader. You have to wait a long time. So better take cash.

We arrived early and had first a drink at the rooftop bar. Here very young service staff with room for improvement, but friendly. Location and interior is great. We were guided to our table, nice table, the restaurant was packed but not noisy. Very good and friendly service ! The food selection is branded by Tim Mälzer but I recognized the leadership from Mr.Kluge in the kitchen. Very good leadership in service by Jimmy ! Food quality top, my starter was great and the main course also. Wine selection small but fine. Price fair.... see you soon Thank you very much for your rating!

This stylish restaurant is located in Old Town quarter of Braunschweig. We can guess that the place earned a good reputation among customers as we discovered a substantial problem in finding a free table. The staff was very friendly so we managed to negotiate to have a quick dinner at the table reserved for another customer. Inside we found an interesting interior, nice atmosphere and fine food at moderate prices. What we can definitely recommend (to adults customers only) is to finish your meal with Kartoffelschnaps :-)

A great place to have a meal which is a step above pub meals as the menu is varied for all tastes, arrives promptly and is a large serving, price is very good. Although not a big restaurant, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and as it is a working brewery, the equipment and workings can be clearly seen from the glassed area of the dining area. The beer is also very good. This is a great place to dine with family or friends, and very close to the city centre.

We were here multiple times during our five-day stay, because we love the bar so much. Plus Corby the owner/bartender and his amazing Gin cocktails of which there were many inventive choices. We enjoyed fabulous drinks we had never even dreamed of before. Her fav was rose petals with Hendricks, enhanced by cucumber. Mine was the physalis -- incredible!

Cafe Strupait was a nice surprise regarding atmosphere, service and quality of food. The staff was extremely friendly, polite, flexible and efficient. Even though we had not booked and the restaurant was fully occupied, we managed to get a table. They were also very friendly and easy going with children.
