Reviews on German food in Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany. Like Rome, Bamberg sits on seven hills, though these are lush, green Bavarian ones. You’ll find all sorts of architecture here, so enjoy exploring the cobbled streets. Plenty of shopping and museums await you, as do nine different breweries. The city loves markets and festivals, especially around Christmas.

The food was excellent, really authentic. This is real German food. It is served relatively quickly with a smile and it is a great price. That's all you really need to know, come on down and sit in the Bier Garten!Prost!Happy travels world!Harold Peck JR

The Eckerts restaurant offers the best of the Franconian cusine. Always fresh, always hand-made. Enjoy your stay in the middle of the river with awesome views of the historic city.
The hot chocolate was watery, and the server could have been more helpful. I wanted to know the size of an appetizer, and his answer was that it was "appetizer sized". The wild swine meat was a bit bland. However the atmosphere was pleasant, noise level good for conversations, the pear-veggies were delicious. We won't be coming again, as there are a lot of other eating establishments, and this one wasn't worth the money, in my opinion.Thank you for your honest words. Our hot chocolate is of fine quality, but contains less sugar than cheaper products which makes it different first, but once used to flavour orientated products without additional aroma or lots of sugar I expect it to be worth a second try. The same is with all of our food, where we try to be different to over-salted and over-spiced food, that may feel a little flat.

Less than a km from the station, this brewhouse offers a range of beers and the usual full fat saturated traditional German fayre. Roomy inside.

Our kitchen is open all day from 11 am to 10 pm and serves Franconia regional specialties. Crispy Schauferla, pork sausages, Franconia Sauerbraten, Bamberger Krenfleisch (beef in horse-radish sauce), etc. Bamberg is famous for beer, in particular, smoke b
We came here to enjoy a special German dish called Sauerbraten and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, very friendly, personable and prompt. The Sauerbraten was delicious and exactly as it should be. A lean, tender roast of beef with a sweet & sour sauce, red cabbage and bread dumplings. The outdoor seating was awesome too. Absolutely loved it!

So after our walking tour , we decided to try this place and taste this Smokey beer that we heard so much about. This beer called « Rauchbier » was great , it has a slight taste of liquid beer but this place is renowned for their Smokey beer. Definitely must try...

Authentic atmosphere-feel, sit with the locals and enjoy really good German food -"get to the point" waitresses. Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy ba
In the middle of Bamberg. Why have we never been to Bamberg before? A beautiful city. We spent several hours wandering around looking at historic buildings. Exhausted, we found seats at this traditional restaurant. We tried the local smoked beer. It was smoky!! And delicious. I had SchÄuferla. Essentially a lump of pork shoulder cooked to perfection with crispy crackling, sauerkraut and a tender round dumpling. Yummy. Did I mention the crackling? Yes, but it's worth mentioning again Prices reasonable. Friendly service. Great place. We saved room for ice cream elsewhere - there is only one place in Bamberg for this. Check out our review of this!!

In the middle of the old part of Bamberg, directly beneath the mighty cathedral, one can find the historic smoked beer brewery Schlenkerla. First mentioned in 1405 and now run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it is the fountain of Original Schlen
Had a couple of pints of the worlds best Rauchbier, Märzen and a blonde. The history of the brewery is impressive and dates back several hundred years. Iâve sought out Schlenkerla beers in the US and in the UK. Sitting in the Bamberg pub with a wooden barrel aged Märzen is close to nirvana for any beer-aficionado (geek). Outstanding!!

As a recommendation from our tour guide we taxi back the this historic restaurant and enjoyed a large plate of pork n dumplings. Should have asked for smaller portions. Enjoyed their beers. Pretty beer garden in front and interior so old it reeked with history.

We had a nice dinner here with some friends. We chose between 3 and 4 courses. The menu caters for vegans and vegetarians, too. You can also mix and match from the a la carte menu and order accompanying wines with each course. The food was generally very good. Only one main dish (vegetarian truffle ravioli) went completely wrong, it was overcooked and tasted very watery. Service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back.Definitely a good contribution the Bamberg scene but with a few issues that I am sure the team can solve.
