Find out what German restaurants to try in Badenweiler. Badenweiler is a health resort and spa in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, historically in the Markgräflerland. It is 28 kilometers by road and rail from Basel, 10 kilometers from the French border, and 20 kilometers from Mulhouse. The permanent population is about 600; the nearest big city on the German side of the border is Freiburg, about 30 kilometers away. Badenweiler lies at the western edge of the Black Forest. It is sheltered by the Blauen, 1,164 m (3,820 ft), and the climate is excellent. Its parish (Evangelical) church (1897) was built at the foot of an 11th-century castle which belonged to the margraves of Baden and was destroyed by the French during the wars of Louis XV.

This was or 3rd time here. The food never disappoints. I had deer venison with spatlzel and it was excellent. Their house salad bar is plentiful, their local beer excellent. Can;t say enough good things about it.

We have enjoyed the food very much. They were accommodating with the vegan options but no vegan desserts though. Service is slow. They can adjust the spice level for you but all of the dishes do contain chillies. In a good way :) We especially liked the vegan coconut soup and the kohlrabi carpaccio, the vegan mushroom raviolis somewhat less. Would come back.Hi Peter, thanks for leaving this comment. I'm very happy that you enjoyed the food. We try to make everything perfect, so we will check the point about the service. If I remember right the problem was that some people of your table ordered a 3-course-menu, some only starters, some only main courses. This wasn't easy to manage for us, but we will work on it. Next time, we are prepared! So we really hope that you will come back.

This is a family-run restaurant in the traditional old German style, with lots of little knick-knacks everywhere, sporting an original ceramic chimney which made it very cosy. My husband and I were very surprised how busy it was on a Monday lunch-time with frequent guests coming and going. The menu offers simple fare, but our meal was absolutely delicious and piping hot. We shared a starter of house-cured ham which was finely cut and melted in your mouth like butter. We both ordered steak, mine cooked in a green pepper sauce and my husband's with a herb and onion crust. Sauteed potatoes (one of their specialities!) and a fresh green salad completed the dish. There was one waitress serving the whole restaurant and she was efficient and friendly. This restaurant offers very good value for money.

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend while walking in the Black Forest. The staff are very helpful and the hotel has a popular restaurant. However, please be aware that there is a cattle farm adjoining the hotel. Consequently, there was a major fly problem - I imagine that the flies are less of a problem outside of the summer months.

What can be better than going for dinner on a snowy white evening to a village inn/restaurant where the food is delicious and the decor soo very cosy??!! It was a wonderful experience....the snow outside and all the Christmas lights and Christmas trees, then the warm ambience inside. It has been in the hands of the same family for 250 years and has been a restaurant all this time. How can it not be cosy?? - Low ceilings, wooden beams, an old green enamelled furnace (don't actually know what it is called), a decorated Christmas tree, wooden seating all around and old household items used in the decor. And, above all that, we had a delicious meal. I chose the menu - soup, main course and dessert for 26E. All perfect.I cannot recommend the Ochsen enough. If you are ever in this area of Germany, I highly recommend you to visit.I understand it is also a guesthouse, but, we did not see the rooms so I cannot say anything, but, judging from the restaurant, it must be a very authentic and special experience to stay here.

Very nice setting on the terrace in the middle of town. Excellent service and delicious food -our waiter (Herr Kramer) was great. A good offering of tasty, hearty German cuisine that was laden with delicious, seasonal asparagus. Lunch for six with drinks and appetizers was about 125 Euros.

I really want to recommend this place and get it bumped up the list of top restaurants in Badenweiler, not least because it is German in a town full of Italian restaurants (why???) Good hearty dishes, massive portions, traditional decor. They also have a menu in English which is a bonus. I am suitably embarrassed by my terrible 'O' Level German and deserve to struggle with my 'Gutedelrahmsuppe' and 'tannengerauchter schwarzwalder schinken's but it was a relief to be handed a full translation!

We are a family-run wine shop with fine spirits and delicacies .
Nice selection of easy drinking wines served by the glass or by the bottle. Good explanation given by the shop owner. Romantic wine bar and shop. Not cheap but excellent wines.

Potatoes, ham, bread, eggs, cheese. A lovely mélange of smells and tastes in this cozy family restaurant. Service was great despite the crowd. Wine selection is great (all local German).
