Vesperstube Harkhof is the only overnight accommodation in this section of the West Way and is located a few meters from the trail. Apparently, the word 'vesper' roughly translates to snacks, and that's what's for dinner. They could improve their snack selection by having more non-potato vegetables on the menu. Our room overlooked the restaurant patio and was noisy throughout the day. The room does not breath at night, even with the windows all open. When we opened the windows, fresh cow smell and two giant wasps rushed into our bedroom and refused to leave. That all said, the owners were extraordinarily friendly, our scrambled eggs with ham and potato salad dinner was tasty, and we slept well. We also enjoyed the sunsets and beautiful valley views and would stay here again.

The Rebstock is a lovely traditional hotel and restaurant. We went back there recently and discovered that they have a terrace area (above the river) that we didn't know about previously. Excellently prepared food, pleasant ambience. The experience is made by the marvellously energetic and efficient lady owner, whose friendly guidance was hugely appreciated. An experience not to be missed.

Unpleasant staf. Bad coffee. Windows with profiled glass so can't look out. The peacefull area of the dining area is for hotel guests only. You are glad to leave this kitchie clautrofobic restaurant. Clean toilits.

We stayed in this hotel and didn't want to go out any more so we ate in the restaurant as well. This is as German as it get's, giants Schnitzels and great beer! Absolutely wonderfull! The schnitzels are great and highly recommendable.

To German standards this place is below everything I ate in Germany. We ran out of options so had to have dinner here. My girlfriend is vegetarian, restaurant offers almost no options for her. She had a pasta, which I've could have made better drunk at 4' o clock in the morning in my student days. I had a bad schnitzel (unacceptable in this part of Germany) without salad or vegetables, which should be paid for if you want it on the side.Just don't eat here. Not worth the money. Can't judge the hotel though.

An impressive konditeri (cake shop), café and hotel garni (bed and breakfast only). On our first visit we bought swartzwaldkirschtorte which was probably the best ever. Huge portions, lots of cherries, cream, chocolate and kirsch. On our second visit we arrived late (just on 9.30 pm) just as they were closing but after we explained we had not been able to find anywhere else to eat they very kindly provided us with wonderful, freshly cooked flammekuchen, beer and wineVery accommodating and the food was great, English spoken poor parking but available just up the street at a bar that is also worth a visitThursday night is late night otherwise usually open until 6Great schwalderkirschtorte, the best we tried in the area and we did try a few!!

We stopped at the Renchtalhuette while hiking in the area (Wiesensteig hike). It is a very nice and inviting hut, overlooking the beautiful valley. Has cozy seating inside as well as a large terrace, all very well organized. There's also a large playground and petting zoo outside, to keep the children happy. After having read the good reviews we were, however, disappointed with the food. It was all very fat, even for german food - probably cooked with too much oil. My wife had a fish fillet which was okay but nothing special. I tried the Kutteln (stomach) dish, which was too sour (too much vinegar), and accompanied by Bratkartoffeln, which looked good and had a nice touch of Speck but were too fat and not seasoned enough. We also had a soup which was good but had way too much salt. The Schwarzwaldtorte for dessert was very good, and there's a nice selection of other cakes on offer as well.Service was friendly but over-worked, as the restaurant was almost full and there was only one waitress...All in all a nice place to stop on a hike if you don't expect too much, but I wouldn't come here for the food - maybe stop over for a beer (good Schwarzwald beer from the tap) or a cake and coffee. Too bad as the place really has a lot to offer...
