Find out what Gastropub restaurants to try in Yarm. Yarm is a small town in North Yorkshire, England. The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

The power of Tripadvisor to get you to the out of the way places that you would otherwise be ignorant of! We arrived at 5 minutes to 2 on a Friday afternoon to meet up with my daughter; the polite enquiry of what time do you serve to was met with a certain amount of humour and warmth with the answer of two o'clock. Fortunately the specials board was close by and after consultation we had the top three on the Board; quiche, koftas and tuna on the general understanding that each of us would happily swap. These selections covered a fair range of world food which is a challenge but all were enjoyed; some helped down by the Rev. James beer. An excellent start to an excellent weekend. The theatre was a success as well!

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime and, there being four of us, went for two sharing boards. Great value ( very generous portions - could hardly fit on the table) and really tasty food. The scampi and chicken gougons were really good - not greasy at all. The only slight disappointment was the cheesy garlic bread which was a little bit soggy. Great service, good choice of drinks and pleasant atmosphere. Would certainly return if we're ever back in Yarm!

We were on a day out & stopped in Yarm. This looked a decent pub so we ordered a drink & looked at menu. The £5 deal looked good value so we decided to try it. For the price we paid you definitely can't grumble, we have paid a lot more & got a lot worse food than this. OH said his ham, egg & chips was very tasty & my scampi was enjoyable. Good alternative to a sandwich.Good evening Cath, Brilliant were so pleased you have enjoyed our £5 menu and agree it's great value for money. We really appreciate the 4 star rating you have gave us, and we can see you have enjoyed your experience with us.Thank you once again, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.kind regards Your Black Bull team Leader and Duty manager

We wanted a home cooked meal that didnt cost the earth. After looking for restaurants in our area we came across The Oak Tree. I had steak and the chef cooked me new potatoes instead of the chips. It came with a side of vegetables and was cooked to perfection. My partner had the halloumi fajitas which were very spicy and tasty. The only thing I would say was as it was all served on a board there was nowhere for him to make up the fajita. I know we could of asked for a plate but it's just a minor point. We will definitely return as the while ambiance of the restaurant was perfect and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
