The Derby Arms is a rather handsome partially thatched pub set in the tranquil rural village of Treales near Preston, Lancashire.Inside youâll find open fires, old beams and a great big bar plus the odd twist or two that befits the quirkiness of this beau
Family visit there were 7 of us. We decided on starters and to be fair they were fine. I had the pie for main course as I didn't fancy anything else, there is a lot of chicken on the menu. My pie was dry and the meat was tough I sent it back asking for the pie to be removed. To be fair the manager did offer an alternative but I really didn't want anything else. The others said there meals were okay but I wouldn't return. I was not charged for my meal which was a plus

The Hand & Dagger is a traditional country pub, dog friendly, with an open fire and Beer Garden, enjoying a pretty rural location by the Lancaster Canal at Treales, nr. Kirkham. Serves a range of excellent home-made dishes mixing traditional pub fayre wit
The food was lovely and the waiting staff were very polite. Unfortunately, the yorkshire pudding and gravy slipped off my plate when the waitress was putting it down and landed on the floor via my white top. She apologised and went to get me another one. My top had several gravy marks on it and the back of the chair was covered in gravy. The landlord just walked past and said "oh dear have we had a spillage" When I pointed out it had landed on me and I had gravy on my top he just waltzed off and said "its only a few spots, send me the cleaning bill" in a very sarcastic manner. I'm not sure how you are supposed to bill somebody for something that you will be fixing at home. I found him extremely rude and uncaring and at the very least they could have knocked something off the bill or offered a free drink but absolutely nothing. It's a shame as we have always enjoyed the meals here but it has made me think again about returning especially after reading other reviews about his attitude towards paying customers.

Went here for dinner whilst visiting the 1940s weekend. We were a party of 4 and between us we had the lemon sole and loin of venison mains and the baked alaska and strawberries and cream desserts. We all really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.
