The Crafty Pint

I had a great solo dinner at the Lucky Pint. The staff was awesome - very friendly and hustling all around. I went with the waiter-recommended half-chicken and I ordered some grits with goat cheese on the side. The chicken was out of this world! Moist on the inside with wonderfully crispy skin and a great little sauce over the top - it was absolutely fantastic. The grits were the opposite - unfortunately, they were just about flavorless, as if the kitchen totally forgot any seasonings. There were some very small crumbles of goat cheese on top of the grits, but if you're looking for cheesy grits then there should be some cheese in those things, you know? So, this was one of those rare times when a dish left a table because it just wasn't right at all. The chicken, however, was the star - completely great. However, this is a small place, so they're going to run out of stuff - maybe the dessert you want won't be available, maybe the entrée you were looking for won't be available. Come prepared for that. One thing I didn't see them running out of - beer. While I didn't partake in any with my meal, they had a ton of crafty options. All in all, great place - easy access, and wonderful staff. Did I mention the chicken?

This was my first and last time at 101 Beer Kitchen. We were seated fairly quickly and greeted by a very nice waitress, she took our drink order, came back quickly and took our food order. I had the burger, no mayo, medium (although I do love a medium rare burger) and my companion ordered the pretzel bites. We waited.....and waited......and waited. Finally someone who could’ve been a manager quickly came by and said that our food would be right out. He dashed off before I had a chance to look up to see him. But, he was right, our food came out shortly thereafter. We probably waited 30 minutes for our food. The pretzel bites are huge and the fries are really good!Burger came with mayo, but that’s ok. I figured I’d just add some mustard.....oh, there isn’t any on the table. As I was enjoying my yummy fries and waiting for the waitress so I could ask for some mustard, I noticed the bun was really wet from the juices of the burger and I wondered how I would pick it up without having it fall apart. Anyway, I smushed down the bun and noticed my plate now had a good amount of juice on the bottom. It looked like someone spilled beef broth on my plate. Seriously, I’ve never seen such a juicy mess. Then, I cut the burger in half and then realized that the juicy mess was nothing compared to the raw, cold meat appearing before my eyes. I flagged down the waitress, showed her my plate. She agreed that was not right and took it back to the kitchen. In about 10 minutes I got another burger. Whew! After all that, the burger was a disappointment. It lacked any real flavor even though crispy bacon strips were added to the top. It was forgettable, for sure. Now, this whole time I am thinking that this is probably just a hiccup for them and I’d come back to give them another try. I thought “I bet they comp my burger or maybe the iced tea or maybe the Manager will swing by to ask if there’s anything they can do to make this right for the customer”. Three strikes on that one. Food taking too long to get to the table and having to send back food to the kitchen are things that just happen in the restaurant business and wouldn’t have been reasons to never return to 101 Beer Kitchen. But not even attempting to make it right for the customer is easily avoided and the right thing to do. This review would’ve been so much different had they at least done something to make it right. I would’ve given them 4 stars, would’ve returned to eat there, would’ve written a great review. You are absolutely right, and this is completely unacceptable and not in line with our standards. Every table should be touched by a manager and if there is an issue the manager should be making it right for the guest. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to write your review so we know and can address the issue. You are right, this happens in our industry. However, it is supposed to be how we handle it that sets 101 Beer Kitchen apart and we failed in doing that for you. My sincere apologies. If you see this and would like to email [email protected] I promise we will rectify this situation.

This is an awesome tapas and drinks place that opened up about a year ago. The only negative that I can say is that it was difficult to find. Fortunately, the reviews pointed us in the right direction. You have to go from the porch of Natalie's pizza down some steps to get here. It's a small place and all the tables were taken when we arrived, so we sat at the bar. We liked everything. The food, the drinks, and the ambience. The staff was super as well! I got the caipirinha and my wife got the cross legged snake. Both were delicious. The cross legged snake came in a funky looking cup (see pics) and had an unusual (but excellent) mix of spices in it. It worked well. For appetizer we ordered their samosa spring rolls. Two big samosas with a chutney on the side to die for! We got the Singapore noodles with shrimp and scallops -- oh man, they were my favorite -- a serious dose of spice, so not for the faint of heart -- but amazing flavors! The bbq ribs were excellent as well -- fall of the bone tender and the bbq sauce on them was delicious as well. This is a small restaurant. So if you have a large party, you may have to wait a while, but for couples or a few friends, it's perfect. I recommend it highly! 5 stars all the way!

There were four of us at dinner and for two of us, it was our first time at this restaurant. The service, by Miles, was great! Among us we ordered fish and chips, flatbread with crab, two salads- one with salmon, and the pasta/shrimp/sausage dish.Rated highest was the fish and chips. Not so great was my salad. The greens were not as fresh as I would expect and the salmon was overcooked- fried, it seemed. I had asked for the salmon to be cooked "medium". It was fresh, though, with no fishy taste. We were seated in a little room away from the larger crowd - which was so nice at first but then our little room was filled with very loud people. I know this is not the fault of the restaurant staff, but it did affect our enjoyment of the experience since we could no longer converse.I'm sorry that you didn't feel the food was consistent for your entire party. I hope that the server, Miles, and the management staff were able to make it right for you. If you ever have an issue or don't enjoy a meal don't hesitate to let them know! We want to make sure that every guest leaves happy and satisfied with the service and food quality! We will use these comments to help us to get better. Thank you for dining with us and we hope you will join us again,Kristin HlavinMarketing Communications CoordinatorCLB [email protected]
