Cotswolds food pub.
After deciding to give this a place a second go,,,After a so so meal a couple of years ago,,,,, Its an OK pub, If passing by But certainly not a "Destination" Pub The menu was one of the most uninspiring i have come across in ages, Apart from a jokey bit about "Brexit" Burgers ! The Slow Braised Beef & Sherry Pie, was naff, It came with a big lump of Puff pastry, With not much meat beneath it,, Nowhere near being good, Loads of average pubs do better Anyway my burger was quite good, With nice Bought in Burger patties ! Reminds me of Burger van days. The beers are ok, All in, a nice pub for drinks if passing, But on one side you have lovely Stowe on the Wold, And the other quite a few nice eateriesHi JohnThank you for leaving a review.Im not really sure how to respond. We used to make our burgers but volumes where that high that our butcher now makes them to our specification in Winchcombe. 100% chuck steak from the 7 Vales, 7oz in weight of pure beef. Homemade Willesey Smoked Baconnaise, award winning Taw Valley Cheddar. We currently sit at No.1 in the Cotswolds on TA for burgers as well as highly place by The Cotswold Gentleman, I am therefore surprised you have compared them with a burger van...Regarding our pie, I have only ever had 1 complaint in 4.5 years regarding any of our pies but I will investigate this as our meat content is usually 6-8oz.We all have different tastes and maybe we just aren't for you, as much as I would love to please everyone.Im sorry you were not pleased with your experience at the Halfway House.Kindest regardsTania
Beautiful pub restaurant right in the centre of a beautiful town. I had drinks and dinner with friends in this lovely traditional pub which offered several hand pulled draught beers. The menu was comprehensive without being excessive, with good quality local produce plus a selection of eastern offerings. It is not a cheap eatery, neither is it excessively priced, as the quality, quantity and presentation well justifies the prices. The ambience of the pub was excellent with a mixture of locals and visitors present, all looked after by a charming lady from County Limerick. An ideal pub, restaurant and historical building all in one.

A Beautiful Gloucestershire Country Pub with dining, with seating available in a lower dining area (suitable for wheel-chair users) or a conservatory restaurant. We also have a cosy Bar area and a rear patio, there are tables located at the front of the b
So pleased we ventured back here again to see the latest offering. Lovely setting and plenty of seating options for both groups and couples. Service was very good and swift. The food was an absolute treat, so nice to have properly home cooked food. The pulled pork just melted in your mouth and was a healthy portion size, crispy chips and crunchy coleslaw delicious. We also had the chicken Kiev with veg and again this was superb, also liked that it came with a jug of sauce on the side. Good range of drinks, nice to have decent beer available. Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu!

The Old Courthouse building was designed in a âItalianate styleâ by the surveyor of County Courts, Thomas Charles Sorby and built between 1869 and 1871. We think itâs stunning and love that it still retains its courtroom, largely unaltered over the years.
Essentially a Wetherspoons, in a nicer setting. No one greeted us on arrival, which led us to wandering around both up and downstairs for our booked table. It was quite obvious to us that other customers were equally as confused after speaking to them - one couple telling us they had not seen any staff come upstairs. We found our table in the middle of the downstairs area, which was frankly more like a loud pub and not a finer dining restaurant, as the prices would imply. Food took a very long time to come out, with one dish on both the starter and main rounds coming after the rest of us were close to finishing. Two of us ordered the same main dish, however one arrived at the table as a kid's portion - we asked why and the manager quite bluntly stated that since it was ordered of the set menu, it is a smaller portion. We reiterated that the wording on both the set and main menu is exactly the same and this is unclear and his response was along the lines of 'yes, I see your point'. Even asking for mayonnaise took over 10 minutes, at which point we had nearly finished our meal. The food was okay but took so long to arrive we ran out of time for ordering desert. Overall a pretty underwhelming experience and I can not see myself returning.
