Find out what Gastropub restaurants to try in Wells. The name Wells comes from the city's three wells dedicated to St. Andrew. Now there's a fun factoid to fill up your next awkward silence. In England's smallest city, you won't find the big summer crowds of nearby Glastonbury. Instead, you'll have more than enough room to sight-see as you please. And there are plenty of youth clubs to entertain the kiddies while you wander. The cathedral in Wells is the landmark attraction, but also check out the nearby Bristol Zoo Gardens and International Helicopter Museum.

Saturday night at 6pm. The pub is empty. Totally. I ask for a half of bitter. The barman says I have to check I can serve you as we are fully booked. Just in case you missed it earlier , the pub is empty totally . I say how long do you think it will take me to drink half a bitter. Anyway he comes back eventually and says he can serve me. Obviously I said donât bother. On the way out the owner / landlord shouts out an expletive which I canât put here and says donât come back. What do you think, am I ever going to go back. Check my other reviews and you can see I am generally very positive. Please please donât give this establishment your custom. Whatever the quality of the food donât support rude serviceThis person attended our restaurant in an intoxicated state. Staff and management advised him he would not be served. He became verbally abusive and this caused alarm and distress to staff and customers. In order to safeguard our customers and staff he was asked to leave.

Refurbished & re-launched by new owners (January 2017), Sadlers Brasserie is a neighbourhood restaurant located in the heart of Wells. You will find classics like fish and chips and rib eye steam. Local ales and local ciders are served from the bar.
We had heard that Sadlers) had lost its star chef and so were wary about going back. No need! Despite initial confusion over our booking, the most important thing - the food! - was excellent, and Emma went out of her way to make us welcome. We were surprised to learn that the meal had been prepared by Chef's No. 2. We'll be back!

We have recently opened after a refurbishment programme. Bar and restaurant are complete. Outside patio area requires planning permission before works can take place - should be ready for the early summer (Target = 1st April). Stocks and shackles in the o
The outside of the building caught our eye on our very first night and we had this on our list of places to try out during our stay. The menu was so good, it was hard to choose what to have. My chicken and mushroom pie - my eventual choice - was delicious!
We met up with some friends in Wells while on holiday in the area and came here for lunch. No complaints, the beer was good (Butcombe Bitter) and the four of us shared two chilli beef/nacho platters which were just right. A very cosy place on such a cold snowy day and the service was courteous and efficient. Very handily placed for the cathedral and Bishop's Palace which are right opposite.
