Most restaurants in this seaside tourist resort rarely climb above average; L'Ardoise is totally and successfully different, concentrating on fewer offerings in its compact varied menu all of which are made from the freshest market ingredients. At lunch you can opt for 1, 2 or 3 course set-menus and can even vary the portions between a standard or "light" lunch - brilliant concept. Have been twice. All 4 of us rated both food and wine as top quality at respectable prices with excellent friendly service and all going again very soon !

Went to this restaurant with a couple of long-standing friends who were wishing us " Bon Voyage" after our five month stay in Europe. As usual conversation flowed freely as well as the wine which was a local, light and refreshing Rose. Watching sunset from waterside is always a treat. Dinner was good - but not noteworthy. My huites appetizer consisted of 6 medium sized huites. Hardly enough to be called a tasting. My wife's salmon gravaloux came out as 4 sushi type rolls. Not what she expected nor liked. The cabillaud main dish was juicy and warm, not hot as would have been preferred. The portions were small and not filling for most adults. Service was slow as there was only one waiter for 25 or so covers. A pleasant evening but not spectacular.
