We were delighted to find this restaurant/ shop on the marina when we turned up late after a cross channel sail. Very welcoming unbooked at 9.00pm. Full on a Saturday night. Lovely beef with Stilton sauce. Good wine. Cafe gourmand. Delicious. Nice looking shop too. Thank you very much !

Bonne cuisine (un peu long) mais mérite le détour, service agréable, des prix très raisonnables, manque juste un peu de variété sur la carte des vins (surtout les bordeaux)J'y retournerais avec plaisir.

We found La Taverne by accident while searching Cherbourg for a restaurant on a cold rainy day in December.We were immediately impressed by the ambience, well set out interior with bar area, lounge style sitting out area and well spaced tables.Staff were very friendly and helpful, we were there waiting for our friends for some time and there was no pressure at all. Our party was four adults, two 8 and 4 year old plus a baby. The two children were a little restless at times and the staff were very accommodating.A comprehensive menu and wine list was presented, Jambon and frites for the kids, a duck curry, two steaks and a Salmon fillet were all prepared as ordered, well cooked and presented. The size of the meals was good and was good value for money.We will defiantly return next time we are in the vicinity as the menu needs furthe evening exploration.Parking is right outside in the Place de la Republic.Well worth a visit

Although this doesnât look promising from the outside, on a small shopping centre, inside it was atmospheric if rather boyishly black and white.Starters of eggs mayonnaise and snails were good. Mains of lamb spiced and wrapped in very fine filo pastry and lambs kidneys in cream were delicious.Not fine dining but very good
