This place specialises in mussels, in various forms and guises. The mussels are fine. It's everything else that's not. I ordered 'fish and chips' which is among the 'non-mussel' options. Not exactly a supreme culinary challenge. Except on first inspection the chips (the Belgians are usually tops at fries) were elderly and wrinkled. When the waiter brought my tartare sauce (late), he offered to replace them. By the time he returned, i had noticed that the fish was cold. When i realised that someone in the kitchen seemed to have microwaved the original chips, I sent the whole lit back as a bad job. My wife finished her mussels and we went to the steakhouse next door - she for desert and i for some ribs. I felt sorry for our waiter because he was trying his best, but could not disagree with my comments.

Le Bistronome is located in a corner of a parking lot outside a discount super market in the middle of an industrial area and very close to the outlet. AND THE PLACE IS GOOD. Every day for lunch it is crowded with locals that eat really good French food, served by smiling waiters in an atmosphere that makes you forget where you are. It's not a big one but it is a hidden gem.

In spite of the uninspiring surroundings of a commercial centre, this place manages to be inviting, friendly and relaxed. Service is excellent and food very reasonable. Located away from the bustling park of town, this little restaurant could be easily missed. Greeted by the most friendly waiter who went his way to make us feel welcome and took the trouble to explain every dish on the menu with his limited English but excellent body gestures. Thereafter we were in heaven when each dish was presented. The foie gra pan fried was devin, duck orange cooked to perfection, seafood risotto and gnocchi (pan fried each piece) was far better than any I have tasted from the Italian menu....... the rest that followed were equally good. Just go and try it yourself
