Went in to the clock tower with 5 friends. Was greeted with a smile. Good selection of food on the menu I went for the carvery which was all very fresh and pipping hot. The pub was quiet so they provided table service for our group. Had such a wonderful time eating and drinking at the Hazel pear with close family and friends. The food was amazing and can't wait to visit again to try more of the dishes. Atmosphere was great and the staff were polite, cheery and always served with a smile. Would highly recommend this place and cannot wait to revisit.

The all new Hanging Gate has been brought back to life by the Broad Oak Pub Co. The newest acquisition in our estate of 6 pubs, The Hanging Gate boasts the same fine cask ales, hearty pub fayre and great atmosphere that our other sites have prided themsel
We last visited 'The Gate' a couple of years ago, on our third and equally calamatous visit to a beatifully renovated restaurant. The decor was not matched by the food or service. Unlike the decor, the latter were appalling (and the subject of a TA review which received a hostile response from the then manager).Moving forward we summoned the nerve to return this evening and what a transformation. Lovely service and food. We don't want Michelin stars, but do expect well-cooked grub and engaging service. It was delivered on all counts. We live close-by, so now having the confidence to return to such a loveåly venue is delightful. Thanks to James and the hard-working team on such a turnaround. Much appreciated. Our next test is a re-visit to what was an attrocious Sunday lunch a couple of years ago and check if the same transformation has been carried-forward. We hope it has.In any event the direction of travel, based on tonight's visit, is extremely positive. Thank-you.Hello Anttheineptgolfer,Many thanks for leaving a review.I'm so happy to hear you gave us another visit extremely after your bad experiences in the past.Myself and the team are over the moon to read your review. And as you can see from our previous reviews, it's very rewarding to recieve great feedback.Hopefully we will see you more often and on a Sunday to try our roast dinners :)Thanks again for your lovely words.See you soon.Kind regards,Aimi and the team

We stumbled on this lovely place while staying at nearby Nunsmere Hall.. The deco inside is amazing, so quirky and everywhere you look inside is something different.. Very comfy armchairs at the dining table, lovely friendly, welcoming staff and the food we had was so filling and tasty.. We enjoyed it so much we returned for tea the following night.. Thank you Fishpool Inn for a fantastic tea in beautiful surroundings with friendly staff... We definitely return again...

Community based pub located on the canalside offering a wide selection of beer/ cask ales. Food offered seven days a week
Ordered fish n chips which was a small piece of fish in undercooked batter with large pieces of fried potato. The service is lacking in that although thereâs a restaurant area you have to go and order and pay at the bar beforehand. The pool table is £1 a gameThereâs nothing here to make me want to return Iâm afraidHi Thank you for your review, all reviews are important to our family run business. Sorry that we haven't impressed you on your visit. We are a pub that serves, good homemade food. we feel that ordering and paying at the bar is a more relaxed approach. The price of the pool is out of our control but feel it sits in line with other venues around that have a pool table. With regards to your fish, we always do check backs this is your opportunity to let us know that you arent happy with your meal, unfortunately nothing was brought to our attention until now. Best wishes The Broken Cross Team
