Our Friday’s menu (Catholic upbringing? ) was usually grilled cheese/ tomato soup & chips. So, I relived my childhood as I sat at the bar; only, they are much more creative than my mother. The YARD incorporates interesting ingredients w/savory flavor & sauces. I chose the CHEESY CAPRESY w/tomatoes & balsamic (incl tomato soup & chips). Five other choices including Mac & cheese, chicken, bacon etc.Eddie was a sweet waiter who recommended, didn’t hover but was so kind to a solo diner. He was quite busy! They have ‘brunch’ selections-eggs, pancakes, French toast etc. Flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, soup, desserts round out the menu. Saturday specials were ‘all you can drink mimosas for $15 (a 15 drink minimum!!??). .& $3 yuengling 16 oz drafts. It’s a bit hard to find, off Market Square next to Siena’s & above Yogi’s Hot Dogs. It’s in a 2 story walkup w/no elevator. Locals sure know it’s there. Sit @ the bar..Tell Eddie that Janice sent you!

I had salmon w broccoli...it was a tad salty but good. I would have skipped the Parmesan cheese on it if I had known. Swapped out asparagus for the rice and they were more than accommodating. Husband had wings and said they were good with the right amount of sauce! The Tito’s lemonade was very good!! . Great experience for my husband but we will continue to venture many more restaurants/bars and entertainment! Too hungry I forgot to take pictures!

The Hungry Detective found this little gem on my most recent trip into the city. Great bourbon and choices and wonderful drinks at the bar. Appetizers are a breathe of fresh air and outside the box (try the deviled eggs). The bartenders are true mixologists and know there stuff...just ask and they can mix it up special. The food looks fabulous as I observed grime the bar area. I met folks from all over the world. I will return to investigate dinner. VERDICT: Guilty of doing it perfect!!!We are happy that you found us and had a great time. We look forward seeing you soon.

City Works - Pittsburgh

Service Sucks.City Works venue is a great bar. Outstanding beer choice, excellent screens and sports coverage, great plates being produced by the kitchen, comfortable seating and good choice of music/commentary. Owners have created a great place. However, the staff let the owners and customers down. Whilst at the front bar the staff were almost absent and more attention was being paid to the cleaning of the drip trays, putting clean glasses out and preparing for close from 9pm than serving customers.Their eyes never focused on the customers and for the whole night service was painfully slow.I saw customers leave because of the lack of service. My neighbour got serviced the wrong beer, when he asked for the same again for his 3rd refill. The staff are losing money for the owners. Maybe mailbox flags need to be used at this bar, until the staff focus on customers.Shame there is not more of a service focus, so strange for USA and a bar.Hi Stuart, I'm very sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at City Works. I appreciate you providing details about this, so I can relay these issues to our management team. Would you mind contacting me at [email protected]? Thank you! - Staley
