This was the first time we had dined at this pub but had read some very good reviews. We were not disappointed the meal was delicious, well presented and the staff were excellent. Also, we thought it was very reasonably priced. We Will certainly go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The White Horse, Whepsted.

The Angel Hotel is a traditional village pub, restaurant and hotel, set on the market square, in the heart of Lavenham. We offer a fresh food dining concept , a large restaurant, welcoming bar and extensive garden, perfect for a summer cocktail or two! We
Great location overlooking the marketplace. We only stayed one night but we had a very friendly greeting on arrival. We were shown to our room which had the wonky walls and floors you would hope for in such an old building. The room was nicely decorated, clean and everything worked. The bathroom was a bit dated but spotlessly clean. The range of food for breakfast was a bit limited but the quality was good and the service again very friendly and efficient.

We have been many times to The Crown and the food has always been reliably good. The setting is lovely, a typical country inn in a very pretty village. On this particular occasion however, although food was good, staff friendly, service was very poor. Our order was taken promptly but food took 50 minutes to arrive, this on a quiet day with only 5 tables occupied. We were not asked if we would like a dessert or coffee either. Overall a good venue for lunch but service needs to be stepped up.

Beautiful 17th Century building in a stunning setting by the River Stour. Modern & relaxed style with 3 distinct seating areas to choose from internally, including the restaurant, as well as the terrace & garden. 16 beers on tap & extensive wine list. We o
We tried to make a booking at this pub for our lunch break on our Saturday walk. We were told that we could not book the restaurant. We then asked if we could bring a packed lunch and use the picnic area, buying a drink at the bar, this was agreed. On the day we arrived, about a dozen people, and purchased our drinks, then headed outside to sit down for our lunch. The manager then approached our walk leader and told him we were not welcome and had to leave. Many of the group were part way through their lunch/drink so could not leave immediately. We were told again to leave!! Why do people go into the hospitality trade and then forget to implement the most fundamental criteria, hospitality? The pub was not over busy and we were very surprised to be turfed out as if we were a gang of yobs and not a group of mainly retirees.Thank you for giving an opportunity to highlight the fact that people are not welcome to bring their own food & drink onto our premises. We sell food & drink for a living. The money that we make from this supports our high costs, including business rates & ground maintenance. Reference your points:1/ We do not have a picnic area 2/ You would not have been informed that you could bring a packed lunch 3/ The pub was certainly busy & you were taking up a lot of bench & table space (some located directly in front one of several notices that ask people not to consume their own food & drink). Customers could have been enjoying our garden menu on these tables. 4/ I was firm with you but I was not so rude as to 'turf' you out. Given that I was clearly annoyed at the situation, I would consider that I gave you the correct amount of professional courtesy.

Very pleasant interior, well designed and contemporary, yet in keeping with the older age and style of the property. Owned by an old Suffolk Brewery,Nethergates, but managed for them. Emphasis on food, not expensive, yet not pub grub or pub grub prices. Staff a little lacking in their price bracket offerings and had little knowledge of their wine list...not so good with bottles in excess of £50!!However,overall very nice and worth a visit...time will no doubt improve them.Recommended.

A warm welcome awaits you in this 16th century restaurant with rooms. The George is situated on the edge of the village green in Cavendish, positioned in between the popular villages of Clare and Long Melford and just a short drive from the timeless villa
Starting with the good, the flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and the hake fillet blackboard special also, so the chef knows whatâs to be done. We were left unimpressed by the service. We had booked and on arrival taken to table with an A3 sized sheet and two smaller pieces of paper arranged for us with no explanation of what they were. Turned out to be a large drinks menu, a set menu and a main menu. We sat by the blackboard so could see the specials. That was the arrival, some minutes later another server placed a bottle of water on table. Ten minutes later the drinks order was taken and after what seemed a long time the drinks arrived with another bottle of water. Other diners had bread rolls and I saw ours do a tour of the restaurant before the server found out that the rolls she was carrying should come to our table. Food arrived with another server who asked if we wanted a second drink which we did but never got before we finished our meal. We didnât bother with a dessert as four loud staggering drunks arrived and were seated next to us, so we left. We got a âsorry â for the lack of second drinks when paying at the bar and were asked to identify the one who took the order but we had had so many at our table it was hard to say. A disappointing evening.
