The Hand & Dagger is a traditional country pub, dog friendly, with an open fire and Beer Garden, enjoying a pretty rural location by the Lancaster Canal at Treales, nr. Kirkham. Serves a range of excellent home-made dishes mixing traditional pub fayre wit
The food was lovely and the waiting staff were very polite. Unfortunately, the yorkshire pudding and gravy slipped off my plate when the waitress was putting it down and landed on the floor via my white top. She apologised and went to get me another one. My top had several gravy marks on it and the back of the chair was covered in gravy. The landlord just walked past and said "oh dear have we had a spillage" When I pointed out it had landed on me and I had gravy on my top he just waltzed off and said "its only a few spots, send me the cleaning bill" in a very sarcastic manner. I'm not sure how you are supposed to bill somebody for something that you will be fixing at home. I found him extremely rude and uncaring and at the very least they could have knocked something off the bill or offered a free drink but absolutely nothing. It's a shame as we have always enjoyed the meals here but it has made me think again about returning especially after reading other reviews about his attitude towards paying customers.

Exceptional pub restaurant in Barton, Preston. Serving a blend of traditional pub classics and innovative modern British cuisine. Real ales and large wine selection. Friendly, relaxed, professional service in fully refurbished surroundings.
Went for Sunday lunch; lovely food, great service, best bread and butter pudding ever but......quite pricey which is why maybe it was only about a third full. Great refurbishment too. Should do a 2 or 3 course set menu on Sundays like the previous owners did.

My husband and I scour Lancashire Life for places to eat. Cartford Inns menu tempted us and we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary there. We found it quite easily and its situation by a bend in the River Wyre by a toll bridge in lovely Little Eccleston was charming. The food was wonderful, the staff were perfect and we are so pleased it met and surpassed our expectations. The place is full of recycled timber and tiles and work from local artists deck the walls. In its grounds is a silver jewelery workshop occupied by a beautiful silversmith and her lovely work. We bought some gorgeous sourdough bread and chorizo from the deli also within the grounds. It was torment not walking off with the desserts on sale there. Do go, you wont be disappointed.

The Horns Inn is a stylish Country Pub where you can catch up with friends, unwind after work or simply find a sophisticated space to indulge in an excellent selection of food and drink. The 'Horns' had been a popular pub and eating-place for locals and
Just off the A6 is this friendly pub.The bar staff were friendly and helpful. There was a decent selection of beers. There are several pleasant dining areas. The menu was extensive and a little complicated. In the end we opted for the lunchtime special of two courses for £10. Lots of choices. The place seemed quite busy but service was prompt, well done the chef. Our choices were really good and the portions larger than some places standard fare. The lunch special is a real bargain with no drop in standard.Would highly recommend for above-average pub food.
