Came in for a family lunch with our toddlers. As we'd heard, the outside is amazing. Great fun setup for little kids, loads of space to play all the way down to the river. They have a bouncy castle which a lot of kids loved, but it was pretty close to the gravel car park with not much of a fence in the way. Wouldn't feel comfortable letting a 5 year old play here without pretty close supervision, between the car park and the river. It's not a fully-enclosed play/eating area like you see in some other pubs, like the George+Dragon in Upton.Staff were friendly, even the barman who accused me of jumping the queue. I'd just gone around to the back bar, which was open, because all I wanted was to refill a glass of water. Maybe queue-jumping? Not sure. But is was pretty funny, and a slightly grumpy barman is part of what you pay for in a place like this. (I have hearing problems so I might have misheard him.)So I'd definitely come here with the kids again. The food quality was pretty average, just standard pub food. Happily ate it, but not much better than what you could cook at home. It was...fine. Better than Wetherspoon's or whatever, but definitely not gastropub, especially by the standards of this area. Nice beer.I felt every dish was overpriced by about £2-£3, meaning the final bill left a nasty taste in the mouth. So it's cheaper than soft play, but I wouldn't come here for food with just adults.Thank you! Sorry you felt that way about the food?! We are completely independent so we price our product accordingly. I am very keen on adults supervising their children closely especially if the guardians are consuming alcohol. (Although I have liability insurance Iâd rather not have to use it!) maybe next time you pop in take a look at our specials menu? Also, my staff are always friendly and happy to help and always operate on a queue system whether you are paying for a drink or having some tap water. Please introduce yourself next time, weâll see if we can improve your experience

This is our 3rd visit in the last month and yet again a fantastic Sunday lunch, the food is consistently good quality, fresh and full of flavour. The meat is always cooked perfectly, great roast potatoes and vegetables. You always receive a warm and friendly welcome with fantastic front of house and service staff. The menu is varied so always something for everyone and if your a meat fan you will not be disappointed!. In terms of price, well the old adage you get what you pay for is very true in this case, for the service and quality you receive this is excellent value for money, and truly is home cooked but with the elevation of a very talented chef and team. The pub itself is well laid out, with a great and inviting design, modern but still retaining the essence of a country pub. So far 100% 3 great meals and this will now be a regular venue, itâs hard to find a good restaurant where the food is consistently great, well done all at the Chequers.Thank you so much for your lovely review - we are so happy that you enjoyed your visit and have had the chance to sample several options from our menu. We work hard to always make sure customers have a great experience every time they visit so that they will want to come back! We look forward to welcoming you back soon - and keep an eye out for our new menu coming launching in the autumn, with even more tasty dishes for you to try!Team Chequers

Farley and Peterson is a new concept looking to reinvent the British pub. Reading about the demise of the pub and spotting the gap for more casual and affordable dining in the pub market the founders of F and P set about creating a place they would hang o
We visited to have lunch for a friends birthday, eating from the £6 lunch menu. We like the bar and have been a few times for food. On this occasion the food was nice and in itself was good value, however we were surprised to see we had been charged an additional £1 for each pot of sauce we asked for, which amounted to less than a tablespoon of sauce. Considering how cheap one bottle of sauce is and the fact I have not been to a restaurant that charges for sauce for years, this seems very wrong and meant that actually we paid more than £6 per lunch. If they had told us we would not have had sauce at all, so I feel the staff have been very sneaky and taken advantage of us and possibly other customers.

Nice old pub/restaurant. Good varied menu. Starters & desserts well portioned although main (pork & Chorizo £19) was small and really needed a side. A sharing starter, 2 mains & sharing dessert (good idea) with 1 pint of beer £60.Nice friendly service.Only down side would be the âEffing & Blindingâ which was very audible from the kitchen/bar staff. Not nice. Oh, probably best to avoid sitting near a door in winter.
