We're an independent family run country pub set in the beautiful countryside of Briestfield, yet only a few minutes from Grange Moor, Mirfield, Thornhill and Huddersfield. We offer a great choice of real ales, wines, spirits, hot drinks and soft drinks. O
Visited tonight with the intention of eating here. We walked in to see a dog eating out of the same plates as humans sat on the bench eating at the table. We challenged this and the dog owners stated thereâs a dog menu and the young boy behind the bar thought it was also OK because guess what! They wash the plates. Absolutely disgusting!! Needless to say we walked straight back out. If youâre going to offer a dog menu then serve it up in a proper dog bowl and donât allow the animals to eat off the table. Dear Angela, Please be assured that, despite being dog friendly their are rules and guidelines and I will outline these for everyone's reference.Firstly, the night in question, the customers allowed their dog to eat with them, unbeknownst to us and against policy. We have separate special silver dog dishes that their food is brought out in and put on the floor. Dog water bowls and specially marked cups are also provided, again, on the floor.A vast majority of our customers enjoy bringing their dogs with them to the pub which is why we have such accommodations. The restaurant area is an area that dogs are not allowed in as we also appreciate and understand that not everyone is a dog lover.I do hope that this has clarified things for yourself and others. Should you wish to discuss in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact our venue directly.Best wishesLisa Newby

Charming rural pub offering excellent freshly cooked to order food and a fabulous range of drinks including Cask Marque Yorkshire ales and wines from award winning vineyards. Booking highly recommended as we do get busy every day. Thanks
Visited here with two work colleagues for a lunch treat. It was very quiet when we arrived but busied up by the time we left at 1.30pm. The menu all looked very, very nice and the two meals for £15 seemed a bargain with ample choice. I wasnât wrong! We all chose from that menu and werenât disappointed. I had sausage and mash which was divine. The gravy was excellent! My colleagues had the chicken kebab and duck. Both enjoyed their meals. Portion sizes were large too. Myself and one colleague had the pavlova for pudding which was superb. The sorbet moreish and the meringue chewy. Perfect! We all left very happy and very full!
