The Dean Inn, formerly the Dean Ale and Cider House, has been relaunched into an a la carte styled restaurant with rooms. Located near to Chichester, we offer 6 beautiful rooms, enjoyable food and service in the heart of the West Dean Valley.
Four of us arrived in the restaurant (without booking) midweek and were eventually shown to a table. The lady was friendly and helpful but no one seemed in charge and there was a lot of coming and going with presumably staff around the back of the bar area. The starters were fine (I had pigeon breast which was well cooked) but the mains were very slow in arriving and generally average in quality. There was no real atmosphere in the establishment and we got the impression the staff were leaderless and just going through the motions with no incentive to go the extra mile etc.

Lovely 200 year old pub located in a small hamlet (Lavant) in the Sussex countryside. On our visit, the weather was good so we sat outside under the lovely sun umbrellas. We were visiting for Sunday lunch, so as well as the usual menu choices, roast beef / pork / chicken were available. After a 'nibbles plate' - bread and olives, I had the chicken which was well prepared with reasonable selection of vegetables and well cooked roast potatoes. My wife risotto was also good.We were served by the Australian girl who has been there for a few years, and she looked after us well. The wine choices are good and we were very happy with the food. As an added benefit, they seemed to be dog friendly.

Have visited this pub many times over the past few decades, but not recently, as the times we had planned to go there seemed to clash with events at Goodwood, which always makes it very busy. However, this time the lunch was booked by my daughter as a birthday treat for me - which it was - The view over the fields and downs towards Goodwood race course was a pleasure to see whilst enjoying an excellent quality meal and faultless service - which we have come to expect from the proprietor, Giles, and this did not disappoint and was as good or better than ever, We look forward to returning again shortly.

The George has been a public house for over 170 years and is first shown on the Tithe Map from 1840. Nestled into the rolling hills of the Sussex South Downs National Park The George is just off the beaten track in the small village of Eartham, perfectly
It's is rare to find a country pub that delivers the quality of food, the excellent service the homely and inviting interior and good value as this pub does. We had three of the most memorable evening meals we have tasted out in a very long time. My Chicken & Bacon Pie was outstanding. A wonderful pastry encasing sumptuous chicken breast, taragon and lean bacon smothered in delicious gravy and sitting on top of smooth creamy mash with perfectly cooked crunchy vegetables. None of the usual boring and unappetising pub food served here. Infact, this pub sets such a high standard in all areas of quality produce and service that in my view it deserves full marks and praise indeed. Oh and finally, it is truly dog friendly with lots of clean fresh water and treats for them !

On a rainy Friday while on holiday, a leisurely lunch seemed a good idea. The Richmond Arms is charming and welcomes dogs. We were seated immediately and took ages to select from the menu as everything sounded great. The scallop starter with pineapple was amazing, as was my Chorizo scotch egg. Mains of Sucking Pig and a cut of Pata Negra were outstanding. Desserts were equally different and divine. Good wine list, attentive friendly service and good value for money considering the excellent standard. Loved it! It surprises and delights.
