The Granville is a country pub just a couple of miles from the historic city of Canterbury. The Granville offers real ales, great wines and outstanding food in a relaxed, informal setting, with a beautiful roaring fire at its heart. The emphasis is good,
Staff very friendly and food tasty which is the main basis behind most good reviews but we always leave here thinking we only go here because it's local and handy. The main reason is that it's overpriced for what you get. Starters particularly this time, my wife ordered chilli prawns for £7 and there were 4 prawns in it and not even large ones at that.I ordered the leak and potato soup which had about 4 spoonfuls in it and was quite frankly far too thick. Our friend's food also was tasty enough but inadequate starter portion sizes.Overall this pub serves tasty food which is the main thing but starters should be starters and not tapas sized offerings for £7 upwards. It's trying to be a posh pub but it's really a pricey pub.Up your portions and drop your starters down to £5 and it'll be about right.

Went here today for my daughterâs birthday. What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful little restaurant with amazing food. My starter and main was absolutely delicious. Iâm vegetarian and found that there were quite a few choices to suit me. My husband had a steak and found it cooked to perfection. Our children had the kids menu which was great value with main, dessert and drink included. Our waitress was absolutely lovely- attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Thanks so much . We will be back.

Looking for somewhere to take our recently University ensconced Grandson relatively close to his campus at Kent Uni we Googled this tavern restaurant and booked it blind. And aren't we glad we did as this is an absolutely splendid hostelry in pristine condition, very comfortable and welcoming and the food is very good and well into the Premiership of Gastro Pubs. The staff were very pleasant and contributed greatly to our enjoyment. Family visit foe my daughters birthday.Beautiful surroundings with a lovely outside area.Menu looked good.Ordered food but waited for about 30 minutes for a starter. My main was delicious (pork belly with fabulous vegetables)The curry on offer which my husband had was not great and i noticed another table sent theirs back.Service was not the best as no drinks were offered during the meal.We had to call for service to ask and to pay for bill this took a while.A little disappointing as we have visited several times before and this is why we returned.

Ate here today and were bowled over with the quality of the food, excellent friendly service, and atmosphere. The starters were truly exceptional especially mentioning the Sea Food Cocktail in a yummy seafood sauce served on the freshest of young lettuce leaves dressed in a most complimentary dressing. The other two starters we had drew generous compliments. The Roast Sunday lunches were exceedingly tasty and fullsome leaving our appetites unable to cope with a dessert. Shame!A venue to regularly return to.

Enjoyed a lovely family lunch here after a trip to the nearby wildlife park. There's just something about going for a traditional lunch at a pub in the British countryside.Friendly, welcoming service. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Served in the old wood-beamed restaurant area, with it's gently sloping floor and cosy feel. the building has an interesting layout (a few steps up and down to reach the restaurant part from the bar area). The place also offers accommodation in a separate building and there is a decent amount of parking to the side and rear.Well worth a visit.
