Reviews on Gastropub food in Bolton, England, United Kingdom. Bolton (/ˈbɒltən/ ( listen) or locally [ˈbɜʏtn̩]) is a town in Greater Manchester in North West England. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. Bolton was a 19th-century boomtown, and at its zenith in 1929 its 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dyeing works made it one of the largest and most productive centres of cotton spinning in the world. The British cotton industry declined sharply after the First World War, and by the 1980s cotton manufacture had virtually ceased in Bolton.

The Railway at Bromley Cross has been reimagined and reinstated as Bromley Cross' place to eat and drink.
Decided to pop out for tea to the railway in Bromley cross. Been developed a few months now and the service and quality of food are both excellent.Pizza o click means whatever time you order your pizza, that's what you pay. We had the Peking (duck, spring onion, housing sauce) and the goats cheese pizzas. Very nice indeed.

In 2016, the pub underwent an extensive refurbishment and now offers, what we believe to be the finest dining experience available in the area. Careful attention was given to retain the original characteristics of the building but still providing a contem

Loved this place, the food was excellent. Service was also very good. Shrimp start was divine and excellent combination with the horseradish. Both the duck liver pate and ham hock terrine off the set menu were good. For mains, the grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and the chips were fab. Again the set menu dishes of chicken and fish pie were very good. The seat menu was excellent value. I will be back

This is a fairly regular haunt for us and we always enjoy our time there. We have eaten there in the past and it is decent enough but we generally just go for drinks. This latest visit was on a cold autumnal evening and we got a lovely table right by the open fire. This creates a lovely atmosphere to enjoy something from the good range of well priced and well kept drinks. The place keeps ticking over but is generally laid-back and relaxing place to spend an hour or so. Thereâs lots of free parking as well.

Family run country Pub and Restaurant serving pub lunches and evening dining in our A La Carte Restaurant all our food is cooked with local produce. Our food is all cooked from fresh by trained chefs.
Went to Bobs Smithy today for tea with family, booked a table for 4pm didnât get seated until 4-30 not to worried these things happenThe food was mediocre and the service was extremely slow, 4 of us had starters the children did not.at 6pm the children still hadnât had anything to eat, the roast beef dinner was very nice, my friend had salmon and was very disappointed with the size of the salmon,I had a vegetarian leek and mushroom pie, the pastry was that hard it shattered and the filling dry and burnt not at all goodThe decor was nice and it was cleanSorry wonât be going again Carol RIâm sorry to hear about your recent disappointment at Bobâs.We had an extremely busy service on that day and I do apologise about your wait on food. My Husband & I received some vouchers for The Cherry Tree as wedding presents after me recently raving about how nice it was when we visited a few weeks ago. This visit was quite different. The food was of the same excellent standard as our last visit (I would definitely recommend the black pudding scotch egg) but the treatment from the staff wasnt! We were advised 3 times before we had even ordered drinks that we only had 2 hours at the table. I dont think telling guests this many times is very welcoming when they have only just entered the restaurant!Having visited hundreds of restaurants in the past I have never been given a timescale of how long to take eating and drinking as a paying customer. It was quite off putting and I'm not sure I'd rush back again purely because of this.Hello Diane B, Thank you very much for your recent review of the Cherry Tree. We are sorry your experience didnât match your expectations 100% this time. As you can see from our reviews we pride ourselves on giving only the best customer experience possible. Please trust that we have taken your constructive comments on board and we are working on improving our guest experience. Please contact our customer relations manager on [email protected] We would love to make things right if you give us another chance.Best regards, the Cherry Tree team.

We are are traditional family run pub who pride ourselves on our personal service and excellent quality We serve great beer and superb home cooked food at incredibly reasonable prices We assure all our customers of a warm welcome and an enjoyable experien
Ordered food off the 2 course menu...starters garlic mushrooms with garlic sauce and these where ok, Chicken liver pate which was very good full of flavour what let this dish down was that it came with toasted medium white bread! Would of liked something a little crusty!Mains were fish and chips mushy peas which my partner enjoyed particularly the chips he liked, Chilli rice nachos the chilli was ok but no better than what I make at home and a little underseasoned couldn't taste any garlic which is nice in a chilli all in all everything was ok if anything stood out it had to be the pate but unfortunately wouldn't make us return in a hurry. The pub was a little tired and personally we weren't overkeen on the dining area which was more like a cafe.Thank you for taking the time to review us, we take time and care over every single dish we serve and it's always good to hear some feedback from people who don't enjoy it as much as we'd like.We find that the subtle flavours of our pate goes well with sliced bread but anyone is welcome to ask for crusty bread if they prefer. Our chilli is seasoned with paprika, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, oregano, fresh chillies, chilli powder, chipotle and lots of garlic so it is a shame that it wasn't to your taste.
