Called here for lunch before setting off back to Yorkshire. The service was good and efficient and there was a good choice of dishes. Food was well presented and tasty.

Discovering a vegetarian menu which doesn't rely on tired old 1980s' recipes of mushrooms, mushrooms and then more mushrooms can be a problem. It's also pretty annoying if you're allergic to or don't like mushrooms. If you share this view then we can't recommend highly enough The Barn at Berryfields (and no, we don't know them). The menu is just a total delight from start to finish with twists here and there (e.g. incredible salsa with the calamari), some really innovative veggie and vegan dishes, excellent fresh fish (changes daily depending what's available so the specials are, we think, always different), and great puddings. We don't eat meat but from what we saw going to the tables, the carnivores are well catered for. Beer's good too. The chef should walk the floor - we'd love to have spoken to him/her. The staff were friendly and knowledgable - they knew the menus (something which is all too often not the case. You know you've hit a dud when the person serving doesn't know what the soup of the day is, or if it's been made with vegetable or chicken stock - needless to say that didn't happen at The Barn.) They smiled, made eye contact and actually projected a feeling of 'we like to work here'. Priceless. And sharing pictures of our Goldies was good fun as well. We were passing through on a cold, dark, wet night in November and the place was buzzing. Not surprising. 10/10 all round. No, on second thoughts, they have to have points deducted because they declined to relocate to Lancashire.

Went thursday for lunch, place looks good but food disappointing. Order the soup and asked for a soup spoon, the waitress delivered it not holding the handle! The soup was Luke warm sent it back to be reheated. My partner had the rump steak 8 oz it obviously shrunk in cooking..very small but cooked perfectly.the bowl of twice baked chips..first two were ok rest burnt. This is not a cheap place ..£18.95 and left feeling hungry. They need to train their staff better and certainly give better portions, even a few peas would help.Hi Flowarwickshire, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. Visited for Saturday lunch with my mom. We shared the seafood platter for 2 from the starter menu which was nice but we were disappointed to find there were 3 scallops, 3 battered prawns, 3 fish gougons & 1 fishcake, why not make it 4 of each & 2 fishcakes ? at £18 I thought it overpriced for what there was. Mom had the raspberry tart & myself the sticky toffee pudding which were both very nice.

We had not been for sometime, really enjoyed our visit today .There was a very good choice on the set menu and I chose the three course option ,pumpkin soup ,Cajun sea bass and finished with coffee creme brûlée all prepared with passion and flair .The service was first class together with the value for money offer makes The Beeches a highly recommended destination for lunch .

We know you'll love the interior, featuring open kitchens, stone fired ovens and log burning fires, offset by beautifully landscaped gardens for alfresco dining. The menu is simple but up-to-the-minute, with lots of comfort appeal, with homely things like
Generally the standard is very good, however Sunday lunch was very disappointing. Started with soup just warm. We had roast dinners; plentiful however roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding over cooked and tasteless, usually stay for 3 courses, however due to the poor starter and main we decided to leave.
