Reviews on Fusion food in Stone Town, Zanzibar City, Zanzibar Archipelago. Former palaces and Arab mansions along the twisting streets of Stone Town hint at a grander age for this port city on the western coast of Zanzibar. The Old Fort, built in the 1700s to fend off the Portuguese, now hosts local performances, a café and an art gallery. Overstuffed bazaars lend an air of nonstop bustle. Mafia Island Marine Park sits just offshore, a haven for snorkeling the local reefs. Day tours visit working plantations where the island's legendary spices are grown.

Authentic food in a family home. I would suggest this to any food-lover visiting Zanzibar. Call to book ahead of time, and leave a little extra time to find the house (the sign is not very big.) Must specify vegetarian options ahead of time.
Funky restaurant serving affordable delicious food designed to spoil your taste buds made with love by our top Chefs right in the heart of Stone Town.
I stumbled upon Funky Monkey by chance walking through the alley ways. Itâs a restaurant underneath the popular Zlife Hostel, so its the perfect place for travelers to meet fellow mates!I was there for the afternoon and itâs quite a chill vibe away from the hustle and bustle streets, which I felt very comfortable working with my laptop. The hosts Peter and Tiffany were super friendly and awesome people to talk to. They told me about the âall-you-can-eatâ pizza night which is held from time to time at super affordable prices (if I remember correct itâs near $7). Not forget to mention the mango-passion shake I had is super yummy, all natural and well portioned! They are also environmental friendly as they serve their drinks with paper straws.Highly recommend people to visit them!

Dining at the Beyt Al Salaam rvoutique hotel is to experience Zanzibar. The restaurant is unobtrusively located on the ground floor, away from the rooms. Since its opening it is considered the finest dining establishment within Zanzibar's Stone Town.

Ambiance was nice, but the food taste was disappointing, as I heard good reviews earlier before coming. Food was overcooked. I asked for sea food plater, everything in that was overcooked, so much so that the food tasted absolutely bad. Lobster was of low quality. I hope they improve on the food part, I might not come come again .Dear speedbird7, Thank you for your comments regarding our ambience. I would like to apologize on behalf of the Beach House family regarding your experience and would kindly ask you to send me an email regarding the bad service and food you received so that I may personally take up this matter and make sure they get the appropriate training required. In regards to the food please also let me know how we can accommodate your next visit. Please contact me if you are in Zanzibar so I may personally make sure you experience what beach house is about as a family. [email protected] Kind Regards, Afshan, Beach House Manager

The Emerson Spice Rooftop Tea House Restaurant serves a set Seafood based, five course 'Taste Safari' Degustation Menu prepared daily by our Zanzibari Chefs. The Sunset Hour is an integral part of the experience, so Diners are encouraged to arrive at any
Amazing taste sensation, prepared by a woman chef, on a rooftop restaurant. We had a 5 course menu for USD$40 pp + wine ($25-30/bottle).. Each course was a little larger than that of a tasting menu, but smaller than those of a 3 course menu (of course) - there's definitely enough to eat unless you're a 2-burger-eating American. If you appreciate taste sensation & take the time to savour flavours, you'll love it. I won't spoil the surprise but the combinations of tastes, textures, flavours, local produce & atmosphere make this a great experience in Stonetown, for this price. Highly recommended. We needed to book & pay a small deposit to secure the booking as it's in demand in peak seasons. Thankyou Emerson Spice!

Roof top restaurant overlooking the old city of Stone Town and the indian ocean. The Taarab, offers scrumptious breakfasts by day and transforms into a romantic, atmospheric a la carte restaurant by sun-down offering outside terrace and indoor sittings.
Let me start off saying I love food. Anywhere I go I search and want to ensure I have the best meals. I came across Taarab and decided I wanted to bring my family of 8 here. Being from the USA, you have to temper expectations when you visit countries like Zanzibar. Essentially it was a bad experience from the start. We waited 20 minutes to get our water - we were the only customers in at 3pm on a Wednesday. Then our bread came out cold, and we had to send it back. After about an hour, our food came out from the kitchen, we ordered everything, from appetizers to their famous seafood platter ($70USD). EVERYTHING was terrible. I called out the chef, and I made him hold our appetizer, it was a fried lobster roll, I explained to him how is something cold when itâs fried? I then made him hold a fry, same thing. The chef was pretty baffled. He offered to bring us food, but letâs be honest here, we all know he wouldâve gone and thrown it in the microwave. I had a really really bad experience here, I walked up and left the restaurant angrily after giving them a piece of my mind. I didnât pay for anything because nothing was eaten. I spoke to the Hilton staff downstairs before I left, but I hope you have a better experience than I did. I really wish I wouldâve just gone to Emerson, but hey you win some and lose some!Dear Anil L,So sorry to read about your disappointment. We appreciate both positive and negative comments as it help us improve our guest experience. We are sorry you did not fall into the very satisfied guests and we apologize for the shortfall in the service and we are so sorry to learn that the experience did not live up to your expectations.Just to let you know, The fried lobster roll is part of the cold salad section and it is served cold. However our Deputy General Manager did talk to you and agreed to offer you and invite you for dinner also but as you mentioned you were angry and just walked away.Cuisine not being an exact science it can happen that one can have a less exciting experience than others. What you might have heard regarding our Roof top Taarab restaurant is that we have a huge a la carte menu and that our cuisine is delicious as this is what 99% of our customers are reporting. We are however keen to reach everybody's satisfaction therefore if passing by our restaurant again please allow us to give it an other try, knowing your expectations, we shall be happy to a special exercise for you.Culinary yours,Chef Shafeek
