We went out for lunch at semilla restaurant, we got the "menu" of the day. It was 3500 pesos, so we expected something nice. The salad was merely iceberg lettuce and carrots but the soup was the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, it got worse. The main course was poor at best. The burger was obviously from a frozen patty and the chicken with mushroom sauce looked and tasted horribly, nearly inedible. For desert, we were "treated" to CANNED FRUIT (in CHILE!!!! Where fresh fruit is available and affordable!) and some "flan" that was evidently from those powder packages. This might have been acceptable for 2500, but this is clearly overpriced and they don't seem to care for their menu offerings.

Restaurant is close to the observatory campus which is where I was staying. Small, family run affairwhich appears clean and comfortable. Menus in Spanish only (whereas the restaurants on the beach have Spanish/English menus) but we managed somehow. Food was typical Peruvian andmy fellow diners were all happy with their choices - the ceviche was particularly good. I had abeef dish that was nice but served with Peruvian-style fries and rice ... not sure you need 2 starches per plate. Also "Pervuian-style fries" are almost always undercooked. That aside, Iwould return and give them another go.

Rico rico!

We had the fried chicken, ceviche roll, and the hug sea roll. The fried chicken was shaped like shrimp and was accompanied but a sauce that would normally accompany fried shrimp. The hug sea roll was ok. There wasnât much flavor but still ok. The ceviche roll was just as delicious as it sounds. A great example of Nikkei cuisine. The service was great, our waiter gave lots help with the menu. But we were the only people there on a Saturday night (strange). There was a tv playing 80s and early 90s American rock videos. Also Brazilian music videos were in the loop. There were murals of hummingbirds on the walls.

Only ordered a couple dishes so have limited base for evaluation. The ceviche mixto, a standard dish on this continent, didnât disappoint and was good. The Yoko Nikkei sushi was an attempt at nikkei cuisine. It had salmon (but the salmon was cooked, not raw), it used white rice (not sushi rice), had avocado, and had shrimp and salmon on top (again, cooked) then a pour-over of Leche de tigre (to complete the Latin aspect). There was a soy sauce from Taiwan that was used that was thicker and less flavorful than others Iâve had. The use of white rice and cooked fish resulted in less flavor also. I can see what the chef is trying to create but maybe he just canât get the ingredients (i.e. sushi rice, raw fish, better soy sauce) in this part of the world to do it correctly (?). Not sure. The restaurant itself looks nice. There are paintings on the walls.Good service, our waiter was patient with my bad Spanish, he didnât speak much English but somehow we managed. The mint lemonade and pisco sour were good drinks here.Muchas gracias, nos sirve mucho su opinión, seguiremos en la constante de mejorar más.
