We called in this restaurant for lunch after visiting the market. It looks unexceptional from the outside, but inside the tables were nicely laid out and there was a good atmosphere. We each had the 14.50€ menu and expected the quality to be fairly basic as cheap lunchtime menus often are. However the food was beautifully presented and most importantly it was delicious. We both had a terrine to start, which was served with cornichons and a delicious ginger chutney, followed by a chicken dish with pilau rice which was really tasty and a lovely orange dessert. The staff were friendly and the service was very good. We will certainly go back next time we are in Villefranche. t

Small, local restaurant with friendly staff and very good lunch options. We had a veal liver and a pork steak, both great. Take the local specialty called aligot, you won't be disappointed.Good value for money

Having visited France and Villefranche de Rouergue regularly over the last 30 years and never having had a bad experience with the welcome in the south of France I am so disappointed to be writing this today. I hate writing bad reviews and love France but was so appalled when on the 1st day of our holidays we visited this restaurant with another family (4 adults and 5 children) that I have no choice but to warn others! On entering I asked if they had a menu enfant but was told no but they could have half of the adult menu at half the price. We sat down inside and the waitress, surly young lady, was less than welcoming not smiling even once. Our kids were aged between 10 and 5 so were not keen on the menu du jour so I asked if they could have une assiette des frites to keep things simple. Our waitress was unimpressed and had to check with the chef even though chips were available on other menus. We finished our meal and went out of our way to smile at the cheeriless waitress but to no avail. On finishing we were directed to the bar to pay and were presented with a bill for €130, €49 for the adults and €81 for the kids (plate of chips!)...on questioning it the lady apologised profusely which I initially accepted as a genuine error as they had charged us for 9 rather than 5...but even then insisted on €9 per child for the kids menu which apparently never existed in the first place!!! ...not their fault we had not ordered more food for the kids or had not made it known to us there was in fact a kids menu. Unfortunately I had handed over the money at this stage and she conceded €5 so ONLY charging us €8 per plate of chips!!!! We were appalled and I will never set foot in this establishment again. Beware of places with no official kids menu. I honestly feel they intentionally overcharged us at the beginning...as if I had not noticed the €81 it would have been happily charged! This Restaurant Marycia / Bar les Colonnes is beside the main market square and the church....my advice would be to avoid it at all costs particularly if you have children.

La table d'Elio is a bistronomic restaurant located in Villefranche de Rouergue, in Aveyron. Passionate about cuisine and chef since 12 years, Simon and his team will offer you fresh and local products at moderate prices.
I had an evening to myself in Villefranche after attending a wedding the previous evening and was looking for somewhere close by to eat. I saw La table d’Elio and got in touch through their Facebook page to check they were open (it was Sunday evening). They responded quickly to the positive and we had a quick chat, so I wandered round to them. The food was excellent! Foie gras, followed by scallops (should have been with chorizo, but not being a fan I asked for it without, which they were happy to do for me), and I even managed to force a dessert it tarte au citron down (not that it took much forcing once I’d tasted it, I just don’t usually bother with dessert!). All of this for 18€!! Not only was the food and service excellent, the setting next to Notre Dame was also perfect

Visited here on a Saturday afternoon with friends and my 5 year old son. We arrived at 12 and it quickly filled up with locals. Service was cheerful and efficient and the salad, pizza and pasta menu was extensive. There is also a grill menu which was far more expensive but had some good looking options. We chose cheese based pizzas, with a green salad to share and a tagliatelle carbonara for my son (I didn't see a kids menu but he generally eats from the adults menu anyway) Bread was provided and a picher of rose wine plus water of course. The food arrived having been cooked fresh. Both pizzas were thin and crispy and delicious. The salad was fresh. The only downside in my view was the tagliatelle which was was very thick - and had a texture that was more like a spätzle noodle rather than an authentic Italian pasta. The menu states that its home made pasta and that it believable. I suspect it is being rolled by hand as a machine would produce a thinner pasta. The sauce was authentic (not full of cream) but the eggs had started to scramble. It wasn't unpleasant though and was full of lardons and had parmesan cheese on top. He was happy with it and ate most of the bowlful. For dessert he had 2 scoops of strawberry icecream, and we had a tiramisu and a portion of roquefort. The bill was very reasonable for the 3 of us and we would definitively return for pizza again! The bonus of this place is that unlike most restaurants in this town, it is easy to accommodate vegetarians.

We had lunch Here and all 3 courses offered the same high quality and attention to enhanced flavours. We liked how the chef uses an Asian palette to create an interesting and tastey riff on more traditional cuisine . The service was warm and attentive and the room simple but spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the veloute and the duck. The desserts were both excellent with the pistachio creme brûlée being a real treat. We were happy to each have a glass of Sancerre wine and felt the quality for value was high.

Such a nice place to visit if you want to taste the modern french food. From the beginning to the end, you ll really enjoy if you have an open mind. I believe by the quality of the food and the service this place should be starred really soon.Sometime less is more !

This is a restaurant in a hotel, but open to all, not just residents. One of the abiding memories of eating at this restaurant (which I have done several times), is the way the food is presented. Whilst some might not like the fancy decoration, I like to see what creations chef has come up with for her dishes. I have uploaded a picture of a steak I had at my last visit- I've never seen it presented anything like this before! Not only is the presentation great but the food tastes good too. I cannot stand mashed potato, but one of the dishes I had came with the French style cheesy mashed potato and it was delicious. Desserts are also a treat, inventive, beautifully presented and delightful flavours.H&S in UK would die if they saw the cheeseboard, which sits out in the restaurant uncovered throughout service. The cheeses taste all the better for being served at room temperature and the French don't seem to have the same hang up about flies as the Brits do!The staff are friendly and professional. They give you just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. We are always greeted like old friends and made to feel very welcome. In true French style, you can enjoy a leisurely meal or have a quick bite in a hurry. I know which I prefer!

We had eaten in the old Cote Saveurs several times and the food was always good but the room dreary. However, with their recent change to smart, modern and spacious new premises just outside the old town, this restaurant has had a rebirth. A new kitchen seems to have inspired the chef owner to a new level of excellence. The meal we ate their last night was superb with beautifully judged dishes, an excellent service and a very good wine list. At this level, it can't be long til a first Michelin star heads this way. Certainly the best restaurant in Villefranche de Rouergue.

Came on a Saturday and the restaurant was very busy. The atmosphere was nice and the service was really good. The young gent who looked after us was a real delight and a good personality.Dinner was delicious as was the wine. We opted for the Cote de Beouf to share. It came out as it would, however for my own taste was a little undercooked, but perfect for my wife. It did not deter and we cleared the board and fries.Overall would recommend.Thank you very much
