Visited this restaurant with a girlfriend for lunch. Had the three course set menu of the day for â¬12.50 - lovely food. It is very popular with locals and several tables were reserved. Quite small and intimate - upstairs dining only 6 tables. Possibly a couple downstairs. The owner/chef is friendly as was the waiter. Colourful Mediterranean decor - just charming

Don't be misled by your first impressions of this place- quickly dispelled by the warm welcome you get from the patronne; the dining room is lovely and the service and cooking excellent. We went there twice while in the area and had delicious meals each time.

We've spent a lot of time at the Haut-Salat recently. We were in Seix on an extended cycling trip, and our friends stayed at the hotel. We have eaten about 6 meals there, and have had coffee/breakfast there in the morning before starting our rides. The hotel is not fancy, but the rooms are large enough, and the owner and his wife are wonderful. They make you feel part of their community, and help us with our bad French. We rented a gite for 3 weeks, so didn't need to stay in the hotel, but our friends who stayed there really enjoyed it (and one had a small baby).

We had lunch on the outside terrace with a great view on the deux rivières below. The food and the service were excellent. The very friendly host/sommelier Robert and chef Philip worked very hard to serve us a great meal and a good time. You should try the Hypocras when you're there.

Everything about this place is special. The welcome, the food, the atmosphere. They are only open at lunchtime, 1200 to 1400, and the clientele is local, always a good signThere was a salad and pate starter (delicious) followed by a choice of 3 beef dishes, grilled, bourginion or something with a house sauce but my French deserted me so we went grilled. There is REALLY no point ordering well done beef in France, other than to ensure you don't get Blue!. When mine came there was half a cow on the plate, one end well down going down to medium at the super thick end. However it was so tender it could have been cut with a butter knife that I just didn't care. My wife ordered medium, which in France equates to rare. Be warned, order rare in France you take a bite as it runs past your table. The dessert.. ......sorry. I had to take a moment to dream. It was "flan" or ice cream. I chose ice cream and ordered coffee. It was like eating a frozen espresso, the coffee flavour was so intense, with little beans of coffee in it. WOW. The owner and his wife don't really speak English but not a problem, they try, you try, a smile and a great meal follow. This felt like visiting a friend who is a Michelin star chef. Truly one to treasure. MAGNIFIQUE. I ONLY GAVE 5 STARS BECAUSE I COULDN'T GIVE 6 !

Loved this, our local restaurant We can recommend it for quality, and for its willingness to cater for vegetarians; there is usually at least two dishes on the menu for not neat/fish eaters.we love the atmosphere on a Sunday when it is very busy- so a reservation is essential - we recommend it to all our Chambre D'Hote guests who have all without exception commented "il est très bon" Unfortunately it is not open in the depth of winter - we wish it was
