Prebooked our table, which was necessary as restaurant is quite small and popular.Received nice welcome on arrival, good start! We were given a tablet to pick our meal off as all menus were in French and our French is not the best!Several of us had asparagus soup with duck croutons, excellent! For the main I had chicken munster cordon bleu, it was very nice though not the best I had in Strasbourg. Several of our group had the apple strudel which looked great. Service was fantastic, hostess taking an interest in us and where we were from, so much better than the restaurant we visited the previous night!! Good food, service and atmosphere would recommend.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant three times and have never been disappointed. The friendly staff take their time explaining the themed, seasonal menu, also in excellent English if necessary. Everything we've had as been beautiful, with a satisfying balance of flavours and variety of colours. Although the menus are inspired by very traditional French cuisine, the dishes are imaginative and varied. We're looking forward to our next visit!

I am so thrilled I have tested this new place to eat. The furniture is very simple, so is the decoration. But the point is what is in your plate. I chose the "menu carte blanche" so it was very nice to get surprised once the dishes came on table. The entrée was very elegant, full of flavors (raw salmon). The cod was very well cooked. The main dish was a little bit disappointing (poultry with a mashed potatoes over salted with truffle without flavor).I told it to the nice staff and the chef offered us a second dessert. After the successful chocolate (choco crumble with white coffee ice cream), we could try the lemon pie : the curd was tasty and creamy : the perfect balance between the sugar and the acidity. Congratulations to the chef. I would like to thank waitress and the sommelier, because they did not push us to spend more in wine, their advice was fair, and I appreciate that.

Had the foie gras and and the cheese plate. Both were tasteless. Seriously. I asked for some honey to give the cheese some flavor. Nice size cheese plate, but they were all tasteless. Even the blue cheese. The foie gras was similarly devoid of taste. A couple next to us sent pack their pizza and got a cheese plate. They agreed: zero flavor. We came here because the reviews were so good. We left disappointed. Cordialement

So Dissapointed, let down and not happy with blanket dismissal with no apology. Preparing for a trip to France is difficult, so much history, beautiful countrysides and of course the gastronomic delights of the Food/Wine etc. present many options and so choosing a Restaurant for my wife's birthday in Strasbourg required the use of Google/Facebook/Trip Advisor and Michelin Guide. After much deliberation we decided on Au Crocodile 6 course set menu and Matching Wines. I even offered to pre pay via their gift box option... thankfully I didnt !!All correspondence was done through email so I have written records and multiple questions and replys/confirmation of booking going back to May 2019. We arrived in Strasbourg last night 2/8/19 and went for a walk through Petite France, chancing on a wine bar we had a chat and some wines with the owner and mentioned we were going to Au Crocodile for Julie's birthday tomorrow night.... " But it is closed???" He said... we scanned our emails and found the email trail confirming the booking for 3 August..."Let me call and check and see if I can get you in to their other restaurant" he generously offered. "No. They are fully booked and when I told them you had come from Australia and had a confirmed booking by email they said - we emailed all our bookings... can you please check again to see if you have an email.Definitely, nothing after this :"....Thank you for your phone number,The price will be the same on the night. So this not an obligation to purchase it online. Looking forward to welcome you, Best regards, Astrid CAVENNEService Commercial - Sales Department...... " So we are here in Strasbourg with no booking and unable to boom into any equivalent 5 Star restaurant on a busy Saturday night... not happy.

Small old building in the old part of this little town, freshly refurbished, with two small dining rooms at first and ground floor. At lunchtime it was full with groups looking like coworkers and friends from nearby. We took one of two lunch specials: a quite good, small and thick steak, very well cooked if slightly more than we expected having asked it "saignant" or rare, with abundant herb-flavoured butter (a bit more substantial and fat than we like, still fully expected in French and Central European cooking. Make sure you like garlic). A huge salad and plentiful, well cooked fried potatoes turned this into a more than satisfactory full lunch. Service was quick and nice, price extremely reasonable at 10 Euros per person without drinks. When we turned down alcoholic drinks they kindly offered tap water as the next option. While France restaurants must provide it upon request, it's nice to see them putting a nice face and looking like they welcome this option. You could have other a-la-carte options, if they would take some more time to be prepared at lunchtime. I wish we'll have a chance to get back here for dinner sometimes.bonjourmerci pour votre visite et votre commentaireau plaisir salutations sabine et alain

Trust the reviews and be sure to book a table here. It’s just a tiny bit outside the city center but absolutely incredible. Creative and delicious food. Beautiful decor and outdoor garden seating. Delightful service. Fantastic presentation. Incredible value. The menu changes frequently but I’m sure that means variations on the consistent theme of wonderful!

This place has a kind of American gangster theme, and is quite cool and charming inside. Our waiter was a shy young man who spoke some English to match our French capabilities. I had the "poitrine de porc" with squid ink pasta. The pork was very fatty (of course it was pork belly) but the edible parts were good. The pasta was not good, and I have discovered the French do not make good pasta (unless you find the restaurant Michelangelo in Nancy which is run by Italians and the pasta is great!). My husband had duck, I think, and it was good. Strasbourg is a beautiful city and deserves more visitors.
