We were there on a Sunday for lunch and it was humming with life. Good sign? Sadly, they must've been understaffed or something, because the service was patchy at best with drinks being forgotten and probably the worst pizza I've ever had. I hate complaining, but this was not one of my best choices. A pity, because it looks like a fun place.

Brasserie avec une cuisine composée de produits frais et locaux. Vue imprenable sur le port de Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue.
Weâve had lots of lunches here this wet Easter holidays and every time the food is exceptional. Gourmet cooking but not gourmet prices plus kids menu & a burger if you must! Fresh fish of the day plus daily menu and the best café gourmand Iâve had. Roll on the summer when the mussels are back on the menu

I was actually recommended another restaurant by a local but itâs menu didnât quite appeal. I thought I ought to eat fish in St Vaast. I chose stuffed oysters followed by 3 fish fillets. They were all good. I then went for the apricot clafoutis dessert of the day which was a little disappointing. That and a bottle of muscadet came to 60 Euro. Expensive yes...but hey. Pretty good, but touristy.

This is the type of restaurant that, unfortunately, is becoming increasingly difficult to find. We had the lunch 'formule' - a starter and a main course with wine or cider for only 11 euros per person. I had the traditional steak frites and my wife had stuffed tomatoes. Both were excellent and with the salad bar and cold meats starter were exceptionally good value. The menu had limited choices but included something for everyone. There used to be family-run restaurants like this one all over France (Madame was out front and Monsieur was in the kitchen) but they are now few and far between. The place was very popular with the locals - a good sign. We will return as often as we can. The establishment is also called the Bar du Centre, which serves excellent coffee at the tables outside.

Fish restaurant
St Vaast is a super stop off point on the way to the ferry in Cherbourg and Le Chasse Maree is a great place for lunch if you do. We called off in June and had the lunchtime menu which featured skate wings. Fish of every kind is a feature of the menu here and these were done perfectly. The service is friendly but rather slow: this is definitely a place to savour your meal. There is a good wine list too although prices generally are slightly above the local average. Nevertheless, a terrific stop off - strongly recommended.

The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance as it is a very large conservatory looking out on to the gardens. I decided on lobster on this occasion as it was my last day, was forever looking for mussels, but they are seasonal apparently, did not expect to see said lobster presented on a silver salver, and moving! However the end result was delicious as it was flambed at our table. I also very much enjoyed (for the first time) the fois gras creme brulee........yummy. could recommend this restaurant and the hotel in a heart beat.

The host at the bed and breakfast where we stayed highly recommended La Bisquine and we thank him heartily for that. The restaurant is very casual and located adjacent to a good-sized marina - a nice background to a meal of delicious seafood. Hint - the menu - at least during our visit, had lots of seafood. Although there was a pork and a beef dish if you must The proprietor selected our wine for us as we werenât familiar with the local choices and her selection was perfect. My Dover Sole and John Dory weâre perfectly prepared and served over a bed of roasted potatoes, white beans, pearl onions, and garlic. It was awesome. My wife had Dover Sole with green curry sauce. She declared it the best meal she had during our week in France. Fine-dining food in a casual, comfortable atmosphere. Dear 668donf,We thank you for having posted a comment about your experience in La Bisquine, and we are delighted if you enjoyed your meal and service;Looking forward to welcome you again for another ballade gourmande in Saint VaastCordiallyPatrice le Chef, Sophie & Team

Thought we would try this restaurant for a change. Did not like the decor of artex walls, grey beams and tiled floor. Lacked warmth. This is personal taste so others may like it. Waitress very attentive and helpful.Alas food was average. My salad was a bowl of shredded lettuce, cubed plastic textured cheese, cubed ham, 3 olives, 3 tomato wedges and a vinagrette(walnut?). I asked for no eggs. I got bored trying to eat it, difficult to fork up all those fiddly bits and it was nothing to write home about. The Rabbit terrine I was told was good served with gherkins and silverskined onions. Bread was terrible, thin slices and dry.Lamb chops were ok, not much meat but that's lamb chops for you. Served with luke warm ratatouille, chips and salad garnish(same dressing as starter). Curiously salt cellar contained pepper and visa versa, but salt grains too large to come out of holes!Chocolate fondant was a very rich slice of dry cake served with creme anglais(cold thin custard)and the raspberry ice-cream was just that, no garnish. Not really restaurant quality cooking.

I arrived with a large rucksack but was warmly received. The 3 course lunch was amazing. I had tomato and mozzarella starter beautifully served and refreshing to taste.I followed this with ham with duchesse potatoes. The ham and itâs creamy sauce were lovely. The potato dish could have been warmer. This was washed down with cider. My dessert was a fromage blanc dish. Once again it was delicious and care was given to its presentation. All this for 13.50 Euro.
