Our most recent meal was a group Christmas meal. Prior to that was a wedding and a meal with friends. On each occasion the food has been very good with excellent presentation. It is not among the cheapest restaurants, but the quality is very good.

Love this fantastic little luncheon restaurant nestling at the top of the long climb out of Gavaudun past the medieval castle. Always busy with local workers which is always a great sign. The set menu in May 2017 cost a very reasonable 13 Euros per head for 4 courses with wine extra. Always delicious onion soup with croutons and then usually cheese, a meat / chicken dish followed by set dessert. We usually cycle there from Monflanquin and seeing the bright red awnings and hanging baskets at the top of the long hill is like seeing palm trees marking a desert oasis. Fabulous!

On our first visit here, we all had duck. The salad was superb, the burger was great and the filet was outstanding. Overall a lovely evening was had here. The following day we went to go back for lunch at 13.45 and were rudely greeted by go away we are closed! Their lose we had a superb meal elsewhere and I wouldnât go back to somewhere that spoke to people like that. Cordialement. La direction et le personnel

A small restaurant with approximately 24-35 covers. The restaurant in this small pretty village is run by Carole (front of house) and Christophe who is the chef. They are a Belgian couple and Christophe has previously worked in Michelin star restaurants.
A delightful restaurant under the wisteria overlooked by the impressive fortress .Don't be fooled by the unpretentious nature of the 'cafe' , as the food was freshly prepared and pleasingly presented by our genial ,exuberant host.I had an excellent piece de boeuf and my wife had salmon en papillote washed down with an interesting wine .Good times !

We ate here five times over June and July, each time we enjoyed this causal eatery. The hamburger was great done "Blue" [Warning thats super rare], and the crepe with sausage in mustard sauce was equally as good. House red wine was inexpensive and quite good.Service was always friendly and never rushed, although they frequently were as the one or two waitresses had to cover a lot of tables. But a long and relaxed dinning experience is the goal in France, so enjoy and the server will get to you eventually... and at least here she will have a harried smile.

Iâve been talking about our lunch here for months. Every bite a pleasure, from the duck to the veggies to the dessert. We did a two course meal (one had entree+plat one had plat+dessert) with wine and coffee. Excellent value and exceptional quality. Absolutely deserves every word of praise it gets. Weâre heading back there soon!

I have never before had to write such a critical review of anywhere. Reading the other reviews makes me wonder if they didn't want our custom. We were looking for somewhere for late morning coffee and this place was open with no customers. The waiters were sat having coffee with cake so we enquired of the person who seemed to be in charge( the owner?) if we could just have cappuccinos. Yes was the response so we sat in a nice place overlooking the main square. The cappucinos came but must be the worst we have ever had. When I went to pay there seemed to be some doubt as to the price. The owner said â¬7.60. I thought there must be a mistake and told them we had only had 2 coffees. The bill was repeated so I paid begrudgingly. I can understand that if lunch service had started they wouldn't want to serve someone with coffees only buy when they are empty? We are not used to that sort of service in France. Beware if you are not eating there.Nous serions tres heureux que vous mangier chez nous au lieu de nous destroy pour un ca pucino !! GRECCOPHYL !! LEVEL 6 !! on trip ,, !!!!

We are lucky enough to be frequent visitors to Le Bistrot du Prince Noir and cannot speak highly enough of our experiences, whether they be lunch/dinner/Sunday Brunch. There are set menus offering a wide choice for all tastes as well as a daily board of frequently changing Specials. Lisa, the Head Chef, has maintained her high standards since taking over the kitchen, with beautifully cooked regional dishes as well as innovative introductions from numerous culinary traditions. There is also a good, well-priced wine list. The setting of the restaurant could not be bettered and the opportunity to while away an evening, over delicious food should not be missed if you are in the area. At busy times of the year (high season) it is advisable to book so that Nathalie, the driving force behind this successful operation, can ensure that she has sufficient serving staff, to attend to all would-be diners.Last night (a Saturday in May) the restaurant was full by 8.30 but the service, as ever, was brisk and charming. The menu has a full list of favourites as well as many of Lisaâs signature dishes but the strength of this restaurant is its daily âblackboardâ of Specials that respond, in particular, to Seasonal produce. The Prince Noir fully deserves its reputation as the best restaurant in Monflanquin

What a great little restaurant. Young couple from Brittany run this place. He is the chef and she is front of house. Dream team. He turns out fabulous food and she is bubbly and enthusiastic as well as efficient. We enjoyed a three course meal for â¬28 each. Three choices for each course. Really very good indeed.
