Came upon this by accident just at the end of lunch time. However, we were given a very warm welcome, seated immediately and offered the plat du jour. a really fresh and extensive buffet salad, that included several cooked meats. Followed by lamb or fish, Merlu, served with vegetables, then strawberries and cream or chocolate cake and coffee to finish. All for â¬12.50. Served with great charm. Don't be put off by the outside, at least it has loads of parking, inside are lovely folk, serving great food. Charming!

Wandered round Marans on a Friday night looking for somewhere that was neither a Pizza place nor too overtly formal. Finally stumbled across this very small cafe that appeared ideal and turned out to definitely be so. It seems that its main business is the retailing of beverages in particular a very wide variety of teas which you can also sample in the restaurant and which we did at the end of our meal. The cafe was obviously popular with locals and it was clearly unusual to have any foreign visitors. Unlike many restaurants, the menu was only in French and the staff and little or no English and in many ways this added to its authenticity. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was classically French with a quite wide menu given how small the cafe was. The food itself was excellent and my wife said her steak tartare was one of the best she had had. There were maybe 25 seats, although for nicer evenings than the one we went there was additional seating outside by the canal side.Would certainly visit again if in the area

Good and friendly welcome of a nice little restaurant ( sorry for this: "my daughter liked the waiters hat !"). Minced meat crêpe was delicious and pizzas were crispy and enough topping. Service is a bit slow between between orders but it's all fine.On our second visit service was a bit slower, in fact, their second waiter left and there is still a vacant position....

Located on the docks, "Le Resto des Quais" offer to you a typical french cooking (fresh and tasty). The customer care service is perfect, efficient and faster despite crowd. A special thanks to our waitress of the day ... "Jeanne" and "Pepette" for her advice.

We have visited this restaurant twice now, both times the food has been excellent, the homemade cheeseburger is one of the best I have eaten locally. Both times the owners have been extremely welcoming and friendly, a must if visiting Marans, we will certainly be back

Restaurant très sympa.Terrasse particulièrement agréable. Service parfait.

Having tried some of the other restaurants along the canals, we weren't expecting much. The outside looked rather nice, covered in ivy, with a pleasant outdoor terrace under a pergola (it was too cold to sit out that evening).Inside we found a very appealing menu and wine list, with slightly old-fashioned service (i.e. respectful of the client). The food was excellent, as was the wine (chosen with the help of the staff - this is always a good sign).A must-eat-there restaurant if you're in that area.

We called for coffee after a visit to the Sunday market. It was quite the best coffee we have had during many years of living in France. The service was friendly and attentive. Whilst sitting there the chalk boards for lunch were put out. Although we did not stay for lunch, the menu was interesting, varied and everything made on the premises and the meat was all of French origin. Worth noting next time we are in the area.
