Discover Restaurants offering the best French food in Luxor, Nile River Valley, Egypt. The Luxor in Las Vegas is to the actual CITY of Luxor, Egypt, as marshmallow fluff is to fois gras. (We’re sure you knew that. We just enjoy analogies.) Sure, the hotel/casino in Vegas might have a beam of light visible from space, but we bet you'll find a hot-air balloon ride over the Valley of Kings much more illuminating. We dined at 1886 in the grand Old Winter Palace and enjoyed fine French cuisine the Sofitel marquis. Dress was smart casual with a jacket, no tie required & such a nice change from the dusty togs from the West Bank Tour day. Just staying in this 100+ year old classic Palace / Hotel & finding a venue like 1886 in outoftheway Luxor is remarkable - then the great food was so unexpected. We enjoyed French fare of beef, lamb, cheeses & wine.(If you forgot your jacket, they will provide one - it just feels better) Quite special & youâll enjoy!

See separate review of the Jolie Ville Hotel. We only very occasionally patronised the La Fleur restaurant when we stayed at the hotel but on this visit we ate there the first night and returned for all the other nights. The food on every occasion was excellent, well cooked and well presented. The kitchen at the Jolie Ville has seen great improvements despite there being very few European tourists. I had everything from Sea Bass to steak and only had a problem on one occasion when I was given the pepper sauce without me ordering it or realising. Even then, there was a great rush to rectify it. La Fleur is definitely worth a visit nowadays.Dear EgyptophileEngland from Burnley, United KingdomThank you very much for your stay at the Maritim Jolie Ville Kings Island Luxor and for having experienced the dinner in our French à la carte restaurant La Fleur. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your meal and satisfied with the general service and food quality. We were staying at the Pavillon - the cheaper part of the Winter Palace - and had been mainly eating at excellent places in the town like the Lantern Room, Jewel of the Nile and Snobs. However we thought we would give the Winter Palace proper a trial. We have in previous years eaten at the Winter Palace flagship 1886 restaurant and were seriously underwhelmed there so thought we would try their other restaurant the El Corniche.I telephoned to make a booking and this was professionally dealt with. We arrived early and had a drink in the wonderful atmospheric Royal Bar. Hugely expensive but well worth a visit. We asked to see the menus which were quickly provided. However nobody came to take the order so we set off to the dining room.We were welcomed at the door and shown to a good table in an almost deserted dining room. The waiting staff were friendly and polite but really had no idea about the food on offer. A bottle of wine was ordered but later we were told it was not available. When it arrived the food was actually quite good. Double the price of what is available in the town it was nevertheless well presented and tasty but poorly served. Why do they not train their staff to the standard that restaurants charging these prices deserve?Overall though, quite enjoyable and food quality actually better than expected.
