brasserie contemporaine dans le centre du puy en Velay, cuisine de brasserie fine avec un menu du marché à 14.90 ⬠le midi et un menu à 25⬠le soir à partir du mercredi
We were staying at the Ibis Styles Hotel and wanted to eat somewhere close. We found Brasseries on TripAdvisor and decided to try it. It was excellent. We have been in France for a week and have eaten out each evening, but this was the best food we have eaten in France so far. The carafe of rose wine was very good and the three courses for 25 Euros was excellent value. we cannot speak too highly of this fine restaurant.

Set in a very old street with history all around. The interior is well worth a visit. Service is smart and polished. I found they were more warmer once they realised we could speak a little French. Wine list is quite extensive , only one choice of house white, red and rose by the glass. We chose the white and it was a Saint Veran Burgundy. Excellent around E6 . Wines by the half bottle were hard to choose from, there were so many. We chose a Chablis Premiere Cru Montee de Tonnere,2010 which was just fabulous. E36. The Chevery rouge was not a good bottle nor was the next so a red Sancerre was opened and it was just right ( no issues from the staff re not accepting the first 2 bottles). We chose the E 54 menu and whilst the tuna, pigeon dishes were lovely there was not a wow factor to either for taste, presentation was very nice. Cheese course comes as a chariot de fromage and was outstanding. Saint Nectaire,Cantal, 4 types of Chèvre, and 2 blue cheeses. Desert is a choice of about 4-5 and must be chosen at the start. I chose the mouse with regional green colouring ( not sure of its name) but whilst the texture was very fine the flavour was not to my taste and it was not eaten. A waiter noticed I had not touched my dessert apart from one tiny spoon and he quickly asked if he could replace it with another. We loved going to this restaurant but E200 for a not so memorable taste not sure if we would return.

We wanted to try somewhere new and got the idea of Chamarlenc from TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. I think that our only regret was that we were not able to try everything. The dishes were presented with style and were delicious. While hard to single out anything, the yoghurt dessert was very special and who would have guessed lentille confiture?Absolutely worth the experience.

As mentioned by many others, the location is wonderful (not sure what happens when it's raining though!), being almost the backyard of the imposing cathedral which towers above. We had the house speciality (lasagne with with puy lentils and either sausage or vegetables) which was delicious. We also had some local beers which they have in bottles (like everywhere else in the world, craft ale from local breweries is very popular in France). Very friendly staff.

We had our evening meal here after a long day and it was very enjoyable to take a brake from the rush and the husttle. Delicious food. Served with classe and elegance. A lovely waiter (who had been working there longer than the owner/chef). A bit pricy, but with an excellent wine list. I'll be back.

Great value set menu - 25 euros (dinner). The food isn't overly fancy, doesn't push any boundaries but it is treated with respect and served well. My partner had soupe de poissons, then chicken stuffed with mushrooms followed by a dessert of baked apple & caramel. I had rabbit terrine, a large and succulent pork chop with cheese rather than dessert. They serve very good red wine by the glass (a Faugeres). Total bill for 2 including drinks and a coffee = 65 euros. It is a family run restaurant, the lady looking after us was helpful and friendly.

Very disappointing vs your earlier reviews.Although the people try their best, the best comment I could do is average.Wine list is poor and not even furnished. The place is noisy. The food is OK but not very fine neither worth such ranking in Le Puy.Not bad, but expectations were probably set too high.

We were hungry for pizza so decided to give this restaurant a try. Glad we did. My husband ordered a vegetarian pizza and I ordered the carbonara. Both meals were delicious. The restaurant is in old town and only seats about 20 people. The service was good and the prices are very reasonable. Don't hesitate to give l'Embellie a try.Hello, thank you so much for this nice comment , and hope to see you again during a next stay at le Puy en Velay. Cordially Catherine and gino

We enjoyed our meal in the courtyard on a sunny day. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can't describe accurately all the different dishes as it was a while ago ( I shouldn't have waited this long to write the review...) but the photos speak for themselves. The food was lovely. We liked everything but particularly enjoyed the tomato trilogy ( crème brûlée, gaspacho and classic mozarella & tomato combo ). The duck with its potato emulsion and peaches was a treat. Small prices, big flavours. The lunch menu was at the time â¬27 without drinks. Its a great address if you're in the Puy en Velay. Visited on 15th August 2012.
