We came here twice whilst on holiday in the region, all 5 of us emptied our plates of pizza/steak and had a wonderful different dessert each. The whole experience was made much better when the French waitress realised our French wasn't that good, so, spoke a very passable English and advised us just how big the pizzas were and what the various toppings consisted of. We were very grateful for the help she gave us on both occasions! The food was superb, served fairly quickly, and freshly made to order. Takeaway meals are available. Next time we go here we will order a standard pizza again as the large one is too much to eat in one go! All in all, nice outdoor eating, pleasant surroundings in a tree lined square, very good food at a very good price. The tall blonde waitress speaks very good English, if you need help!

Great little village bar restaurant and hotel with some pretty good food on its small but satisfactory menu. Used by locals and tourists alike it has a nice atmosphere.Holds various music nights so always worth looking out for what's going on, has plenty of space outside for those warm nights...32 when we visited!

Mainly a pizzeria but does have other meals on menu. Can sit outside on the pavement as well as indoors. The waitress is very pushy on yourcchoices hardly givingvyou the option to choose for yourself. Not our favourite place. Food is average, wine not the cheapest

We stayed here for 2 weeks in our caravan whilst dealing with buying a property locally. The site is well laid out with lots of varying sized pitches, most are screened by hedging giving a little privacy, mainly grass but a few hard standing too. We had no problem fitting our 8m caravan in. Not too busy while we stayed either. As other reviewers have said the restaurant is pretty good and very popular, all food is freshly cooked by the owners wife and the atmosphere is great.

We've eaten here a few times over the past 4 years, and were seldom disappointed. Unfortunately this past visit was a big disappointment. The Dorade (sea-bream?) was dry (over-cooked), the confit-canard was dry & way too salty, the deserts OK, but not exceptional. In summary, a disappointment. Perhaps it was an exception, but I doubt we will return as this wasn't the 1st time we've experienced a slip in the quality, and it's way too much to pay for food that doesn't meet the gourmet standards they claim.

I realise La Chatre is small, so limited restaurants, but that this is classified as #1 is strange. Food was OK, but definitely not worth the price. There are better choices in the region, so I would recommend searching a bit as I doubt Tripadvisor will allow me to site them in this review. The "assiette berrichone", a local dish, was overbearing with liver. Rillettes de saumon OK, but not exceptional. The oysters were acceptable. The pepper steak was tough & it was questionable whether or not the sauce (served separately) was house or ready-made. The local chicken was very good. As for deserts, the sauce with the Opera was not fresh home made, the Nougat glacé au Grand Marnier (ice cream) had almost no flavour of Grand Marnier. I had the Douillon au pommes, apples in a pastry with a fresh home-made sauce was excellent. The only plus of the meal. The wine selection was very poor considering the choices in the region. If you are looking for OK food at not outrageous prices, you will eat OK, but I suggest sticking with We will not return.I am sorry for this disappointment, and i present you our appologies and i'll try to hunderstand the probleme with all the personns on staff.

As soon as you walk into this restautrant you feel at home, the decoration could be your living room, quite cosy. Its warm and friendly, we were greeted warmly and sat down looking forward to our meal as everything started of so nicelyMy wife and I both chose a 'crepe' from the menu, although there are lots of local products to choose from as well, meat, salades etcBoth the main course and the dessert were perfect, and washed down with a bottle of cider, yummy. To be honest I coud find nothing to fault in this restaurant. This is a very good restaurant in a smallish village lost in the French countryside, well worth the 'detour', great food, lovely staff and to top it all not very expensiveAs soon as we are in the area again, we will certainly go again.
