We should probably have asked ourselves why we were eating virtually on our own in a large restaurant like this in the middle of July in a well known holiday spot....The Hotel / Restaurant / bar is indeed an interesting venue full of nick-nacks, photos, art, memorabilia, a pool table and a couple of interesting characters propping up the bar! Nothing wrong with that. But sadly the food was simply not very good. Some rather odd tasting fish, sauces which all seemed remarkably similar and pre-cooked veg.

While walking from the beautiful little area of Port Lay I spotted this Crepery, I was warmly welcomed and fed a delicious buckwheat (they call it black wheat) crepe with a chocolate filling. The dessert crepes are actually named galettes . Along with the Kir Breton (a drink made of local hard cider mixed with a choice of sweet liquers) this was a perfect little stop for a local dessert.

Offering a fantastic view over the harbour at Port Tudy and attracted by the lunchtime menu, La formule du Midi at 15⬠for 2 courses and coffee, we decided to give it a try... especially as it was raining! We were therefore surprised to be told that we could have anything on the menu except La formule..... other than it's component parts, which resulted in 1 course, no coffee, for 1⬠less. In addition, the wine and beer that we ordered with it was the most expensive we've paid so far. Wouldn't recommend it and won't return, we were left with the feeling that they were taking advantage of the weather, knowing that most people would simply order something else.

We ate here during our May 2014 visit to Groix, and were pleased that staff recognized us - a nice touch! Friendly service, easy-going but efficient. Superior smoked salmon, savory buckwheat galettes, and desert crepes; good wine and breton cider selections. Love "our" table in the very back, with view of the bustling one-chef kitchen.

We rented a bike to visit the island and we have been recommended this restaurant by our taxi boat. We were not disappointed. The fish soup and the main fish were very good. If you still have some space after that, I highly recommend the cafe gourmand.

Group of 5 friends had a memorable dinner here. We loved the freshness and very small space in the cave right in the centre of Groix. The chef and wait staff were excellent. A totally positive experience.

No matter what you think..just get there and enjoy your food. The Chef, Fredéric, is very inventive. This season, go for his apple stuffed with mackerel, then carry on with hake..Halibut is my first choice.i am not keen on deserts, but everybody will tell you that they are excellent.Wash it down with a " rosé d'Anjou".And, what's more, the bill is very light.Congratulations to Frédéric and his wife, Julie. At the Alizés, you will always receive a warm welcome

On recommande !!!
