Brasserie on top of Spalenberg in the old city. The kitchen is open all day from 11.30 - 22.30 H. Friendly and quick service with fresh and local specialties. October till April sunday open.
we had not booked and the restaurant was buzzing but we were offered a table for 9 pm. We arrived a little earlier and table was available and order and drinks taken quickly. We both had pasta, mine with salmon and cream and dill, my husband with chorizo. Pasta excellent for both, my husband would have welcomed a little more chrizo whereas the salmon was plentiful. Overall excellent, good atmosphere and service excellent and welcoming. we liked the art deco environment and stunning stained glass.

The only thing I can think of is folks don't know it's hidden away in the Pullman hotel. We were looking for a nice, relaxing lunch in our quick stopover in Basel, and our concierge recommend Les Quatre Saisons - what a wonderful choice! I enjoyed the business lunch which was delightful and my mother enjoyed the arctic char. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to have a fantastic lunch in Basel.

Monsieur Philippe Maire and his team are happy to welcome you into the small, history rich and elegant hotel brasserie au violon. The traditional typically French cuisine for lunch or dinner will surely be remembered as a very enjoyable time spent in a co
Au violon is a great place to eat. It is especially nice when you can eat outside. Inside is more luxury bit outside is just wonderful. Just above the Basel scene (literally) along a church, hotel and museum. The food is really amazing. It takes quite a while though before you get to eating. That is why I could not put 5 stars. Even so the prices are somehow high. This is a Swiss trend of course. I do recommend to visit the place and see and try it for yourself!Dear Fish_corner,Thank you very much for your visit and your review! We appreciate your nice compliments regarding the quality of our food as well as our brasserie's setting very much. We love spoiling our guests outside in our garden under the trees! It would be great to see you again! With our very best wishes,Christine and the au violon team

From the moment we arrived this was absolutely the best dining experience in many years! Max and Francis cater to their guests with beautifully presented dishes, menus to meet all tastes and delight the palette, a patio setting designed to shelter guests dining outdoors and beautiful shawls as the evening cooled. Their attention to the smallest detail made this dinner with friends a very special night to remember.

The Brasserie of the new Volkshaus Basel was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Its architecture combines classic brasserie-style elements with special design touches and adheres to the warmth and generosity of a beer hall. The combination of tradition and m
The concierge of our hotel recommended Volkshaus when we told him we were looking for authentic regional cuisine and he hit it out of the park! Wonderful dining experience in a beautiful brasserie setting offering courtyard outdoor option. We chose to dine indoors because it was slightly chilly. Our server was phenomenal and guided us perfectly in our meal and wine selections. I consider the prices moderate for dinner, about 100 Swiss francs per person if you include wine. Great dinner. Dear Volkshaus Guestwow, what an excellent feedback and we are so happy about it!Thank you so much and hope to welcome you soon back. With pleasure I will share your comment with by team. I wanted to post this update to give this interesting place it's fair due. Last time we had large business group for dinner and it didn't go so well. The space itself is worth mentioning: beautiful antic tiled stove, modern mural on medieval theme, chandelier...This time it was a dinner for 2 and it was a very positive experience. Our dishes were perfectly executed and seasoned. Service was a bit of an issue at first as the lady did not speak/understood English well. That said once we got through the order taking it was good and attentive. Chef stopped by and checked on us. They offered 2 amuse bouches. Lobster and scallops were amazing however what it was served with I didnât like (tapioca, seaweed and fruit preserve). It was not complementary. My colleagueâs fish was divine.

In the Brasserie Les Trois Rois we serve you with Swiss and French brasserie specialties, with ingredients fresh from the market, which bear testimony to the richness of the regional produce. The richly varied and colourful menu bears witness to the consi
Dinner at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois provided some challenges with the service. After seating us and providing menus and the extensive wine list, I indicated to the maître d' that we wanted to choose the wine and have a glass before ordering the food. This message seemed hard to get across, since he appeared at least three times asking us to order food without any sign of the wine. We persisted. It took quite some time for the wine to arrive and then we ordered from the menus. The waiter that was assigned to us spoke no English whatsoever, so asking for some explanation from the menus proved difficult. While we believe that the waiter thought he was providing good service, it was quite the opposite; he hovered around the table all night. As soon as we took a sip of wine, he refilled the glasses with another sip. At least twelve times! As soon as a plate was finished, it was whisked away. Perhaps the kitchen had run out of crockery? We felt like asking him if would like to pull up a chair and join us rather than hovering over our shoulders all night. This was the closest to an intrusion of privacy we have ever experienced in a restaurant (despite that fact he spoke no English). No peace, no privacy. It totally spoiled the evening. Shades of Fawlty Towers. The food was very good â the veal with kidneys and vegetables was delicious. At least they had a good chef. Pity about the service. And the restaurant was full!Dear GuestThank you for your personal review about your visit at the Brasserie Les Trois Rois during the fair Art Basel, our most busiest time in the year.We sincerely regret that we were unable to meet your expectations and that you were not entirely satisfied with the service provided. As you would expect, this 3 Michelin star restaurant is excellent in all respects. The Chef de Cuisine Peter Knogl was in the kitchen and Le Menu of 5 courses (without cheese) at 220 CHF provided some exciting, innovative dishes as follows: Hamachi japonais, ponzu, radish and avocado; langoustine, madras curry and Granny Smith apple; St. Pierre and green beans; Bresse pigeon and Tasmanian pepper; and Champagne, raspberries, mint and kalmansi. The Pigeon was our favourite, but they were all delicious and the presentation superb. The wine suggested was an excellent bottle of local Swiss pinot noir (less than 10km from Basel). The service was very good, perhaps a little understated. Delightful, moderate-sized room in this historic hotel made for a lovely evening.Dear GuestMany thanks for your detailed description and your great feedback of your recent visit at the Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl. We are delighted to read that with our cuisine, service and wine recommendation, we could create a perfect dinner evening. We hope that this special occasion will remain a long lasting memory for you and look forward to welcoming you back soon.Yours sincerelyTanja WegmannGeneral Manager
