Because it was a Tuesday evening in September most of the restaurants were closed, so we had little choice. Our waitress was great and you could see that she was embarrassed to serve us. The Garbure was tasteless, the trout was so over cooked with reheated over cooked potatoes. The lamb chops were burnt and didn't taste of anything but burn, with a salad that was brown and slimmy and the apple tart was made of shoe leather! It was the most dreadful dinner. WC fair.

We ate here to find food in Gedre that my kids would eat. The pizza was actually quite good. The service was also as friendly as I have found in France. Prices are a bit steep for what you get, but thatâs part of the location.

Recently visited this establishment.Whilst the staff were quite agreeable, the food and hygiene were dispicable and way overpriced.I suppose the Cirque de Gavarnie "high" had temporarily blinded us when we decided to take a light lunch here.I won't go into great details, but there is nothing special or good to write about here, and if you just need a cup of tea and have plenty of euros to spend, then this is the place for you.I am sure that there may be better places in Gavarnie but we just didn't have the time to lookfurther.

After walking for about an hour from Gavarnie, you arrive at the Hotellerie du Cirque, a large nineteenth century building seated below the entrance to the towering glacial bowl. This busy old hotel, somewhat faded in its majesty, now functions only as a restaurant in the high season, but it offers probably one of the finest glacial views in the world and is a welcome place to enjoy a cool beer and an al fresco lunch of local meats and cheeses. The Cirque, a World Heritage Site, attracts about a million tourists each year. And the prices at the Hotellerie, a veritable honey trap, reflect this. Be prepared to pay through the nose for a glass of Grimbergen beer, but what a backdrop you have from its sunny terrace! Certainly one for the bucket list!

Restaurant de montagne aux saveurs du terroir...
This restaurant is very friendly with some excellent "Crêpes" and "Vin Chaud".You can have lunch or dinner and taste confit de canard ,Lamb and some good desserts

The best asset of this bar/brasserie is its environment which is also the best asset of any restaurant in Garvarnie. However, it is the meeting point of almost all buses coming to town and well located before a hike to the cirque. I had some desserts which were fine. They were not special but were ok.

Crepes were advertised outside this auberge so we dropped in. The crepes are freshly made and there was a wonderful range of toppings. We had the Bretonne topping which turned out to be a delicious caramel sauce. What a pity there was only enough batter left at 4 pm for one crepe! Surely it doesn't take long to whip up some eggs, milk and flour? It's a great location and if you do stop off there for a crepe and a coffee, visit the church nearby which was all but demolished in 1915 in an historic avalanche but has since been lovingly rebuilt and restored.

Great restaurant in the middle of Gavarnie village. Happy to accept our party of 8 (including 4 kids and a dog) with a friendly welcome. Pizza was excellent with the tuna pizza described as the 'best I've ever had' by a teenage pizza connoisseur. The ham and mushroom also hit the heights and others had a gargantuan warm goats cheese salad and the kids meals were equally well received. To be clear, the restaurant is simply decorated and cosy - not exactly Michelin but that's not what you want when hungry and thirsty in the mountains with friends and family. This place did exactly what we wanted and more. Recommended.

There are few restaurants open in June in Gavarnie but visitors are lucky to have this one as an option. We ate here twice and had excellent meals both times - the trout with pasta, pizza and duck burger were all delicious and well prepared. The service was warm and friendly and we appreciated that the chef came out on both evenings to ensure we were pleased with our meals. I can also recommend the dessert: the cafe gourmand and lemon tart are lovely! The dining room is comfortable and visitors preferring to sit outside overlook a gushing stream, adding to a pleasant atmosphere.

The Hotel Vignemale suggested that we would like the Restaurant Les Cascade and booked dinner for us. The food was delicious and innovative. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Wines good. As the village has permanent water purification problems all their water is bottled, even when served in the carafe. WC good. Parking can be difficult in season.
