Quite simply dinner at the Alcove was outstanding. We booked an overnight package with the hotel that included a 5 course dinner, a glass of Crémant de Loire pre dinner & 3 different glasses of wine per person matched to the food. The food was some of the best we've eaten since moving to France 7 years ago. The wine was typical to the region & delicious and the service was absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed dinner on the terrace but the interior is equally good. I simply cannot rate this venue highly enough. Taken as part of the package dinner cost approximately 60⬠for two including the wine.

This restaurant specialise in fouees...a type of pastry pocket in which one can put rillettes, cheese, mushrooms etc. The fillings are served on the plate and the fouees are placed (warm) in a basket from which you help yourself. The fouees were OK, not really to my taste, but the meal was clearly aimed at tourists wanting a quick 'snack type' meal. The fouee is served with lettuce. You are also offered cider or a glass of wine.Pleasant but not delicious, but a good opportunity to eat a local speciality and have a quick lunch as well. Worth a try! next door (part of the establishment) is a wonderful patisserie!

Saw the reviews and decided to try for ourselves. Small family run establishment. Lovely warm welcome. Good menu. Some nice savoury options along with the sweet crepes for dessert. Absolutely delicious crepes. Poached pear, blue cheese and walnuts. Very reasonably priced. Superb flavours. Well worth a visit

I had a good impression of Chez Mimie before even laying eyes on it. Arriving late after a delayed flight, we called ahead, and they agreed to stay open past closing time to feed us. The meal was delicious, the managers as friendly as we'd expected, and we returned here every day of our weekend for more. Highly recommended.Thank you for your opinion !It was a pleasure to serve you and to make you discover our cuisine and vision of things. Looking forward to ..

On a sun-filled day the garden outside La Licorne was a great place to enjoy lunch. We thought the food clever, imaginative, well presented and far more exciting than offered by some Michelin starred restaurants we visited on this holiday. A crab starter, cunningly labelled as lasagne (but not pasta) was a great dish, with layers of flavour. My beef was rarer than I would have wished but still very fine. My wife, eating off a cheaper menu, enthused about her cod. Service was attentive, but the restaurant was quiet. The wine list disappointed slightly but still provided a good bottle. Value was high and weâd happily return.

Someone advised me a while ago that to find a good place to eat is France is to follow the locals: they'll lead you to a place serving good food at a reasonable price. Le Delice, a friendly and welcoming restaurant/bar on the edge of the village, is indeed such a place, being frequented by locals and visitors both to the village and its famous abbey. The food is of an excellent quality and very well served. The menu is however rather limited and never changes, otherwise I would have given five stars. Fontevraud has quite a few 'eateries' now, three more formal restaurants and a number designed to catch the visitor. However Le Delice is really in a class of its own and thoroughly recommended.

Right opposite Fontevraud's Royal Abbey you'll find Logis hotel Hostellerie La Croix Blanche, a historic coaching inn (1696) with 24 rooms. The cosy colourful French restaurant called 'Le Plantagenet' serves French cuisine according to traditional recipes
Great to find a hotel with a veggie menu in France. First day dinner was good though the veggie main option was mainly pureed carrot. Asparagus great. Steak, I understand, was very good. Second day, veggie main was a pasty with tasteless veg resembling baby food and lettuce swimming in vinaigrette (instead of the nice seasonal veg offered to the meat eaters!) Chicken and prawn dish didn't really work. Wine pairing is offered but no explanation of what wines were chosen and why. More importantly, the wine only appeared after asking for it at every course. Strawberries for dessert were the best bit, plenty of them, though some past their best.We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations as far as the vegetarian menu was concerned.I checked with the chef and we have now made some changes in the recipe and veggie menu - thanks to your feedback; this was most helpful. The chicken-prawn main course is a great French classic recipe, the day we launched this dish all tables except for ordered it (24 out of 25 tables)! Wine service has been addresses by the appropriate waiter.

FONTEVRAUD LE RESTAURANT / HAUTE CUISINE ... BOCUSE STYLE, 1 MICHELIN STAR Adjoining the hotel, at the centre of the Saint-Lazare priory's peaceful haven, is Fontevraud Le Restaurant, whose kitchen is headed up by young chef and Bocuse d'or prizewinner 20
We received a Menu de Lune for two as a present for our wedding and it was a very exciting experience since we had never been to a Michelin restaurant before. It's fantastic that they use local produce and seasonal fruit and veg. Berries used for the dessert even come from the Abbey's garden!Elegant presentation and dishes full of flavours â it's a great place for a special event for a couple. Waitresses seemed tired to me, but it was the end of the weekend so it's understandable.Dear guest,We thank you for having shared your experience on TripAdvisor.Kind regards.Olivier Châble
