Extremely pleasant little diner where the hostess herself takes great care of dressing the plates to a higher level than one usually expects from diners like this. Ideally situated when you're coming back from the Belgian coast.
I recently used the hall attached to t' Fort for a week's conference, so ate here a few times (as it was next door). At first I thought the slow service was a one off, unfortunately it continued throughout the week and seemed to get worse. The food itself is OK, however these guys don't seem to know how to run a restaurant. They were hardly ever busy and yet dishes took 45+ minutes to arrive (we waited over an hour, one night). Service at the (empty) bar to get a drink generally meant a wait of about 10 minutes, whilst the staff ignored your attempts to get served. When you did order food, by the time you got the side orders, you'd basically finished most of your meal. This place could be good if they maybe employed more than one person to cook all of the meals and gave their staff a few lessons in customer service.

There is no more sincere love than the love for good food. The address where gastronomy and conviviality find each other.
The food was very good and with had a lot of flavours - family business with husband and wife - very nice reception and relaxed atmosphere - the menus were only in Flemish or French - The lady could not speak english but that did not put any barriers to our enjoyment of the food as the lady was very accommodating

We stopped at Sint Jan for a coffee while driving through Diksmuide. It is very accessible with convenient parking and the coffee/service was excellent. There is a summer terrace outside which would be an excellent place to take in the Yser Towers built after World War 1 to commemorate Flemish soldiers.

This restaurant has new owners since our last visits but it's still perfect. The interior stayed and that's wonderful. The owners are very friendly and inviting. The food is delicous. Will come back here many times in the future.

Wanting lunch here at 2pm we found almost everywhere had stopped serving. Then we stumbled on this lovely restaurant and saw the chef wandering around chatting to guests. We were lucky to secure one of the last tables. The fixed price menu was excellent value and the soup was one of the best I've ever tasted.Service was friendly and the atmosphere very congenial .Obviously well patronised by the locals we were very glad we found this little gem!

Reception was very friendly. We took the quicklunch which was very tasty and originally presented on the plate. The bread was nicely wrapped in a paper bag. The service was very good and quick. A place to go back for more! Also a terrace with nice view on the garden. Small parking area in front.

Been here for brunch, been here a few years ago and now again but been to a lot of places where you can brunch and here is not the best place. For the amount of 65 euros??? In other places You pay from 57 euros upto 59 euros but get much more service and hospitality. You get only 1 glass of cava, the You get Your lobster very quickly. It's a half baby lobster and not every lobster has the same size. And then You can go to thu buffet where You have to wait in a very long line for several minutes to pick Your plate. The let everybody go to the buffet at the same time, so You get a very long waiting queue. It's like throwing 1 bowl of food to 10 hungry dogs: everybody throws himself at the buffet. In other places with such a brunch: the boss and staff come to a few tables to tell You You can go to the buffet. Not all the tables at the same time, this system resultst in normal waiting lines. So it's all in the arrangement and organisation. And they ask much more money than other places. For dessert we were waiting and waiting at our table because the queue was very very long but by the time the queue was a bit more normal some customers had been 3 times allready to the dessert buffet... No more this place for me, rather go to other places where You can sit more relaxed and really enjoy the food and service.
