This was our first visit to Dax and a Sunday. The tourist office was closed. Luckily we found a paper shop which sold town plans. When it came to lunch time we didn't know where to go and found La Cuisine by chance. It wasn't very far from the Roman fountains. It has a spacious courtyard. We assume that they serve meals outside in the summer. We went in and it was quite busy but they found us a table quite near to the bar. First of all they offered us duck rillettes with small toasts. We had both chosen duck breasts with espelette sauce for our main course and they came cooked "a pointe" (pink) as we had ordered them. The only slightly disappointing thing was that they were served cool rather than hot. In spite of this the flavour and texture was good. I had a nice fresh salad with mine and the other came with chips. They were hot and crisp. We had coffee gourmand to follow. A cup of espresso served with 3 small puddings. We enjoyed our meal had nice French neighbours at the next table to talk to. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.

Second visit to this wonderful restaurant in 6 months. Again an important family lunch over the Xmas holidays. We were welcomed and remembered from last time which is a great touch. Service again was just fantastic and importantly sincere. There were very accommodating for our little baby, and whilst the restaurant was busy, we were made to feel comfortable, not rushed and could just enjoy the food, ambiance and each other. Was really looking forward to coming back with high expectations which were met again. I really recommend this restaurant if you want great food, service and an amazing time. Thank-you!!

We really enjoyed the food, drink and ambiance in Chez Babeth. Very informal and friendly, and great tasting tapas. Would come back if back in area.

Julian the owner has really tried to bring his knowledge of time spent in Australia and the Uk into this bar. It's a fun atmosphere. They make great cocktails and do a show with juggling the bottles etc. The chef even showed us some magic tricks and he was very good. Later on they have an open mike so you can get up and sing with the musicians. They have a restaurant but we ate in the bar. Great thai fishcakes. If you're in Dax give this place a go.

Not too much choice but enough and what is on the menu is absolutely excellently prepared, from prime quality produce and with great love for the art of cooking.Little touches like being allowed plenty of time to discuss and select the wines from the cellar to complement the food, and excellent coffee and great aperitifs complete an excellent meal. But it really then comes together when a cook and a hostess seeming effortlessly host a perfect evening. Not cheap but very much worth it.When in Dax: Don't miss it!

Great 3 course set menu for â¬14 at lunchtime. Wonderful, professional service, Excellent tasting food which was well presented. Accompanied by a good wine list, wine by the glass from â¬3 to â¬6 and a large selection of wines by the bottle. The interior of this place was nice with a comfortable feel, good size tables and chairs and large windows. We had a lovely lunch and would definitely return.

Le Salon de The' in Dax is one of those rare and off the beaten track, special places. If you are visiting the south west of France, you have got to taste the duck breast and the foie gras. Le Salon de The' serves a lunch specialty that is superb and very inexpensive. The specialty consists of 1 inch square, rare to medium cooked, chunks of duck breast, sandwiched between two crisp pancakes of sorts, served in a plate bowl, and surrounded by chunks of potatoes and onions, with the whole plate laden with a light gravy (jus). It's delicious, special, rare, a genuine find, and inexpensive at 9 Euros. What a find! Worth a visit!

On our 27 euro menu everything was copious and tasty. The patronne was super nice and efficient.... nice nautical decor.... Lots of ideas in the conception of the dishes... The first dish of cold shrimp and potatoes in a tiny cast iron casserole was tasty and quickly served.

Highly recommend the salade landaise and then the filet mignon de porc, both of which are delicious. We turned up without a reservation and the host made extra effort to accommodate us.Portions are very large and well presented, this is definitely a place we will go back to.
