Sustainable food for lunch, bar and finger food at night, brunch on weekends.
This is a new spot in Cherbourg and a very welcome addition. They source organic and local produce so the food is clean, fresh and top quality. The cheese selection is also excellent. I would be happy to return any time when in Cherbourg.

Although this doesnât look promising from the outside, on a small shopping centre, inside it was atmospheric if rather boyishly black and white.Starters of eggs mayonnaise and snails were good. Mains of lamb spiced and wrapped in very fine filo pastry and lambs kidneys in cream were delicious. Not fine dining but very good

After a great day exploring the Cherbourg peninsular we were a little late in finding somewhere to eat, however the Au Saint Michel was only a short distance from the hotel and still accepting patrons at 21:00.The restaurant is small and homely with an open dining room on the ground floor. The menu places an emphasis on sweet and savoury crepes although there are a few meat dishes offered from the grill including Steak. We opted for the savoury crepes having had a fantastic steak the night before. The crepes were absolutely delicious, I was very tempted to have another but I opted for one of the delicious deserts instead. If you want a simple, homely meal in pleasant surroundings served by friendly staff (who do speak English) then Au Saint Michel is highly recommended.

We first visited Le Ty Billic for lunch on our last day in Cherbourg in May last year.We both enjoyed the galettes as they are not something we see in England.Last night we decided to go for dinner on the day of our arrival for this years visit. Our friend Pauline was with us and she was impressed with the rather rustic but very authentic decor. On our previous, lunch, visit the restaurant had been about half full but this evening we were lucky to get the very last empty table. It seemed at first as though, as before, there was just one lady serving but she was, eventually, joined by another. Our French is poor as was the ladies English but we quickly ordered drinks. A âblondeâ beef for me (33cl) which was lovely and a glass of red wine for Pauline and a rose for Jean. The menu, whilst limited to galettes and crepes, is very extensive as to fillings for both.Jean ordered a âcompleteâ which consisted, on the galette base, of cheese, ham and a fried egg. For Pauline it was a Parisienne where oodles of soft melted cheese was covered in a mixture of mushrooms. My galette was, of course, the biggest. The Gascogne is topped, once again with a mass of melted cheese but with the addition of slices of duck breasts, duck âgizzardsâ and assorted mushrooms. For those who have never sampled the delights of a galette (or Breton pancakes) they are a large âpancakeâ made of buckwheat flour which gives them a rich walnut colour. The fillings that can be added are basically endless and up to the artistry of the chef but all seem to start with cheese, in our case, Emmental! They were all delicious and it was impossible not to finish them off.We had no room for one of their magnificent looking deserts but the girls had another glass of wine each and I had a small black coffee and a glass of the local Calvados, which was delicious. All in all a lovely, very tasty and filling meal. Now the bill. All prices in Euros.4 X glasses of wine @ 2.3 = 9.21 X Bierce Blanche @ 3.51 X Complete galette @ 5.81 X Parisienne galette @ 7.21 X Gascogne galette @ 8.91 X espresso @ 1.41 X calvados @ 4.5Total = 40.50 (£35.50)Once again very good value for money.Peter & Jean. :o)

Simple place but there is something special about it. Service, food quality and service staff. The restaurant itself decoration, location and set up is very basic but the dining experience was great. Good value for money in the heart of Cherbourg

Found this place as the other steak restaurant we often go to was shut. Great find on an unassuming backstreet, fairly small. Locals love it too. All grilled items cooked on the open fire in the front of the restaurant. Ate the sausages which were very salty but tasty, friends had the Côte de bouef which was good though possibly a bit rarer than asked for - maybe that's just France! Small but good wine list, we had a Bordeaux - Les Angiers. Was eating in a large group of 7/8 people and service was quick and polite. Dessert also delicious!

Stooped in after walking around Cherbourg. The staff was friendly and helped with the menu. Had a three course fixed price meal. All the courses were outstanding. Never thought of vegetable tiramisus but the dish was delicious, a combination of fresh veggies with humus and pesto sauce. Would go back if in Cherbourg again.
