Find out what French restaurants to try in Chamonix. As host of the first Winter Olympics in 1924, Chamonix will always have a place in the history books. Its main attractions are Mont-Blanc (Western Europe's tallest mountain) and the many ski areas that face the Chamonix Valley. Steep slopes and extreme weather conditions suit advanced skiers best, but there are also runs for beginners. Just make sure everyone in your party knows a green circle from a black diamond. Oh, and another note for the history books—Pierce Brosnan was here (filming a James Bond movie, The World Is Not Enough).

A place, a soul a love story! Nested right in the heart of the village of Vallorcine, in 15 km from Chamonix in the feet of tracks, the Coffee Counter is a place where we like the Authenticity ... Dishes, prepared in the kitchen "workshop" opened on the r
Although they claim to be open all day, they are not serving food from 14:45 till 19:00. So be careful.

Had fondue for 6 people, multiple appetizers, 3 bottles of wine, dessert and it was like 40e per person - an excellent deal! The service was VERY slowwwwwBut the Fondue we had met expectations - very good, not amazing. The interior is nothing too special. Stick with the basic fondue, or champagne fondue, nothing with mushrooms, etc etc.I'd come back here though because we just had fun!

Next to the city center of Chamonix, our restaurant dedicated to high gastronomy will not disappoint you. Since 1903, our well-known family house has been a cornerstone of the town, and is now run by Perrine Carrier, the 5th generation. Chef Damien Leveau
We were fortunate enough to be able to stay at this lovely property this time, although we have dined here twice before. First what it is NOT: A place for inexperienced diners, someone who just "wants to grab something quick" vegans, gluten-freebies, picky eaters and for God's sake don't bring your kids. I'm going to go thru our wonderful experience in detail. We knew we would be doing the Tasting Menu with the premium wine pairings, as a precaution we skipped lunch. We first made a visit to the bar for a pre dinner cocktail. Hand-crafted by a very friendly and capable bartender. They know who we are without having to tell them, and when we finish, someone is there to show us to our table, which has a pretty view of the garden. Word of warning: Don't eat too much of the bread, it is hard to resist, excellent with two kinds of butter on a little granite slab. You want to be able to try everything. The first course comes out, it is Foie Gras. It has Cocoa and Rhubarb from their garden. Served with a Chateau Yquem Sautern. Next up is Salmon with Caviar and cucumber balls paired with a Premier Cru Chablis. This next course may have been my favorite, not only pretty but tasty. Smoked fish with local goat cheese, green apple and herbs from their garden. Served with a Meursault white wine to last for next course as well which was Cherry tomatoes (skin free) smoked homemade burrata cheese and raspberry Verbena sorbet. Perch from lake Geneva, peas, onion, oxalis with caraway sauce and dried parsley dust was next. Remember don't eat too much bread! Out comes a red wine with a serious knife. Not just any knife, hand made in Chamonix from local wood it fits my hand exactly, we know meat is next. Out comes duck breast with black cardamom, red currents and celery pureeâ. They bring us a good red wine whose name escapes me, again advised to make it last for the next course as well. Which is cheese. We are in the holy trinity of cheese land here, with both Switzerland and Italy ten miles away, I choose only four because this is a marathon, not a sprint. Oh and you need more bread to go with it. In France cheese is often substituted for dessert, but tonight just a precursor. The red wine goes smashingly with it. Time for the first dessert and the next wine âLe Vin Mysteryâ They bring the wine in an opaque black glass. We found this to be a somewhat humbling experience. You have to guess what you were drinking, without being able to see it. It was sparkling with a strong hint of apples. We were sort of thinking some kind of apple wine. No, they say. Now we are not wine experts, but we are Champagne experts. Turns out to be a Grand Cru Rose' from Ambonnay, and we were just there days ago! The first dessert showcases fresh strawberries, lemon sauce and pine nuts. The second dessert features Guatemalan chocolate, cherries with a tarragon balsamic reduction, but you are still not done, out come the petite fours and you have still room because you did not eat too much bread right? Actually they will put those in a little box to take away. The staff here moves seamlessly like a well oiled machine, attentive without hovering, friendly and happy to answer any questions. An almost perfect dinner, except someone brought a four year old to dinner, not fair to all the other diners trying to have a special, romantic evening.Dear Madam Cynthia,Thank you for your nice and long description.Reading your comment is such a beautiful present for all our staff and myself. We are trying hard to make each client's visit a very special experience; it seems we succeeded for you.We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again.Kind regardsPerrine Maillet-CarrierManager and owner

The restaurant is very small and really does not have a view. The view from the cafeteria is much better. The food was very mediocre. I got the veal with prosciutto and the meat was tough, the sauce nondescript. The mushroom soup was very bland and somewhat runny. The prices were high.Dear RKHCalifornia,Thank you for your comment about le 3842.It's difficult to read your experience about Le 3842, it's unusual. The restaurant has the label "Maitre restaurateur"; Indeed, it serves homemade food realise with fresh and local products. We apologize that you didn't appreciate our food. The restaurant is small and cosy. At 3842 of altitude, it's difficult to provide a restaurant with large space. Furthemore, you say: "really does not have a view". There are 2 large windows with a view on the Mont Blanc massif. Concerning the prices: Homemade Starter, main course and dessert well prepared for 46 ⬠realised with fresh and local products at 3842, we think that is fair. Moreover, all the products have to be carry by cable car.We will be happy to welcome you again in our restaurant to give you a better experience. Have a great day, Best regardsTimothée

Nestled in a picturesque village of Haute Savoie you will not miss this former coaching inn from 1885, ornate and decorated in a Savoyard style face Diosaz Gorges and 10 minutes to Chamonix with its view of the Massif Mont Blanc. Whether you come alone, i
I reserved here based on TripAdvisor reviews and wasnât disappointed. We opted for à la carte as we werenât that hungry though there are fixed price menus for around 36 and 48 euros. We ate outside with a view of Mont Blanc and ordered the chicken with tagliatelle and beef filet with a potato millefeuille, both tender and very flavorful. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the citrus mousse - the latter was a bit too sweet in our opinion. The owners of the hotel/restaurant were incredibly courteous and helpful. The only slight inconvenience is that they do not speak great English and the menu is in French (but we speak a bit of French so we got by just fine). We will definitely be coming back again as the surroundings are beautiful and the location is strategic for either hiking, skiing or visiting other nearby places like Chamonix or Annecy.

As this TripAdvisor account is for the family, we enter this top recommendation on behalf of my 8 year old daughter. She was on a ski weekend with a friend and her parents and had lunch here. She had the "plat du jours" which was the most delicious Boeuf bourguignon she has ever had - "the meat melted in her mouth"...She recommends the crumble for dessert, but she also noticed that you should reserve one when you arrive as they are quickly sold out!!She likes and enjoy food, but rare is it that she to this extent remembers and talks about a meal. Well done! We - the rest of the family - will certainly go as well. Finally, remember to bring cash as they don't take cards! Apparently our friends had forgotten -they were allowed to do a bank transfer.

We found this wine bar open on Easter Sunday and we are so glad that we did! The owner welcomed us and our two french bulldogs to a quiet space. We had two different apero plates with local beers from a microbrewery before switching to wine. There was a nice selection of wines and it was a relaxing environment - away from the touristy spots in the city. We were able to relax with the dogs while enjoying local meats, cheeses, beer and wine.We will definitely be back (and probably more than once!) on our next trip!Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are glad that you have had a good time with us and that you enjoyed the selection of wines as well as local and Italian specialty slates. I will not fail to share with the artisans of the microbrewery, that you particularly appreciated the quality and balance of their beer. Looking forward to welcoming you again.

We had an excellent meal here and the service was great. The salad was delicious with some sort of pastry and melted cheese on top. Really good bottle of wine for a reasonable price. My lamb chops were very good. The dessert was great as well, we shared the profiterole and creme brûlée. This place is small and books fast so would suggest a reservation.
