We found this restaurant by chance, and so glad we did. The setting is lovely, by the water, although it was raining so we couldn't eat outside. The restaurant is elegant, beautifully starched table cloths, sparkling glasses, comfortable chairs...elegant! The waiters were also elegant and highly professional and welcoming. The restaurant was full (not surprisingly), so we were lucky to find a table. And the most important...the food! Excellent, again elegantly served, copious, interestingly presented, and fresh, with a huge choice The choice of wines was extensive and the local wine we took was fab. Prices for what we got, were surprisingly inexpensive. We would definitely recommend this place, and when near Tours, would most definitely come back

A thoroughly delightful and slightly bohemian feel small restaurant which delivers handsomely.During our dinner, we appeared to be the only non locals at this obviously popular venue which is slightly hidden off the main boulevard but without doubt worth seeking out.The set menu was reasonable value for the quality.Reservation seem essential but regrettably not available on line which is my only criticism.

My partner and I ate here last night and it was truly wonderful. I can not recommend it enough. Small menu three options for each course but extremely well priced at three courses for twenty euro. We both really enjoyed our meals and would love to return some day in the future. The cute little restaurant had a fantastic ambience and the service was second to none, the two waitresses were wonderful. This place gets very busy though so would definitely recommend booking. We originally wanted to eat here on the Friday night but they didnât have any spare tables. By far the best place out of the three places we ate in Tours!

Having enjoyed the very fresh and great quality of the seafood platter last time we decided a retour would be good.Again, freindly, quick and efficient service. We chose a dozen Nr.2 oysters - super fresh and well prepared, followed by the Cassoulet de Saint Jacques (very tasty and plenty of St Jacques) and the dry aged steak - very hard to find beef aged long enough in France and very, very delicious. This is a family run restaurant for families, it's does not pretend to be posh but it does do what it says on the box - Excellent quality ingrediants, fresh, well prepared and served quickly by freindly staff.Dear Customers,I want to thank you for choosing The Portofino for your recent lunch or dinner. Thank you also for your appreciation Restaurant.I appreciate your comments to help us to evolve and improve.I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you soon with us again.Sincerely,Frederic VazManager

This restaurant is situated in the outskirts of Tours in a industrial area where a lot of hotel chains are situated. This restaurant want to stand out for its interior and it does. Well done. The food is good without being special but rather cheap so OK. very sympathetic staff so if you stay in a hotel closeby don't hesitate and have some food there.Dear IgnaceDThanks a lot for your visit.Your pleasure is our.See you soonFrédérique pour Ets La Bricole

Who would have thought that, after several days in Paris, our best meal would be in Saint Avertin!? Both the exterior and interior of the restaurant were lovely, clean, and well-appointed. The staff was so kind and welcoming. Service was timely. My favorite part, of course, was the food! Everything we ordered was delicious and inventive. My personal favorite was the roasted fig dessert, though the veal and mushroom pasta was also quite nice. Highly recommend stopping by for dinner!

We came into Tours to see an exhibition, and took the opportunity to celebrate a birthday with a return trip to La Roche Le Roy. We knew it had acquired a new chef after the previous chef sold up and retired. We were not to be disappointed. We both went for the reasonably priced business menu for lunch, a terrine starter, fish for main and an amazing "rice pudding" for dessert, all excellently cooked and presented. We were a little surprised to be given a menu in English, but on reflection we do look very English even if we have lived in France a long time and our gastronomic French is pretty good (though we still struggle with the grammar!) The meal was accompanied by an very good half bottle of Menetou-Salon, and the service was superb and faultless. The restaurant may have lost its Michelin star when the old chef (Alain Couturier) retired, but good luck to the new chef (Maximilien Bridier) in his new venture and I am sure that will soon be corrected.Dear Customer, Thank you very much for your comment, it was a pleasure to welcome you at La Roche le Roche as always. No worries, French grammar is difficult and even some french people have issues with it. It will be a pleasure to welcome you again, maybe with a new Michelin star and menus in French. Best regards,La Roche Le Roy

The restaurant is run by catering students so the service was a bit hit or miss, but they did try their best. The food was nice. Had a prawn ravioli starter which was tasty and well presented. The main course with fish was also really nice. Reservation is a must as this place is very popular and busy. They accept group reservations. They had a good choice of wines and the students were very polite.
