Bar Brasserie ouvert toute lâannée. Service restauration uniquement le midi sans réservation. Grande terrasse au soleil.
As others have said, the location is beautiful and one can make lovely walks from Le Hourdel, above all to Saint Valery sur Somme - 7 kms each way, on foot. I suggest you start from Le Hourdel, walk to St Valery, eat there and return the same way. The bar "La Point du Hourdel" is OK for a beer or coffee, I would say and is pretty typical, but I wouldn't eat there after, on my first visit a few weeks ago, I saw who I presumed to be the lady owner, help herself to a dish of ice cream (from the dishes stacked up for customer use) and, when she had finished, she put the dish on the floor for her dog to lick and finish up. The dog also seems to have freedom to walk the kitchen whenever it likes. I'm afraid, whatever the reviews on the food, that is more than enough to put me off.

Our history at this restaurant is decidedly inauspicious. First attempt to eat there in a party of eight, the booking was lost, restaurant was full, and we ended up dining alone in the cavernous ballroom - the food though was superb. Second attempt, there was a huge dog under the table in the dining room - a 'no no' for me - and we went elsewhere. Thus our third, highly successful visit, was particularly pleasing. Although set in the glitzy environment of a 'live' casino with all the impedimenta that implies, the restaurant itself is simple and unpretentious with splendid views over the traditional sea front promenade, complete with scores of beach huts, and - during our visit - an atmospherically churning sea.The food, as before, was excellent, with a succinct menu dominated by fish dishes but also steaks. (My last entrecôte was the best I've ever eaten - anywhere). We had fish soup as starters, a meal in itself, followed by a skate wing, in a caper sauce supplemented by samphire (a local speciality) and saffron rice tamable. Huge helpings, all for nineteen euros each all-in excluding mineral water. Service is pleasant and efficient and the atmosphere calm and welcoming. We had no problems getting a table summer mid-week but booking is to be recommended for weekends.Thank you for taking the time to your very detailed comment. We are delighted that you enjoyed our facility and hope to see you again soon.

Dropped in for an afternoon drink. Friendly welcome with a smile. Lovely and clean. Centre table laden with a variety of books both for children and adults. Situated in the centre of town. Seating outside to people watch in the sun. Worth dropping by.Thanks Steve for this 4 star review. Looking forward to meet again

I visited mid week in late September on a bracing autumn day. At first glance, the sea front at Cayeux seemed closed and bereft of any eateries. We eventually found 2 establishments and selected this one as my companion only wanted a snack lunch.Restaurant de la Mer is centrally located on the front with a pleasant restaurant which appeared to have been recently re-fitted. There is also a covered terrace and serving area on the other side of the road - closed on this bleak day.The welcome was warm and the choice included a fixed price 3 course menu which looked good and seemed popular with the other customers. My companion had a nicely cooked ommlete whilst I ate the sole menuire from the a la carte. The sole was of high quality and presented with a small number of vegetables which complemented without over-powering the fish.Overall this was a very pleasant experience and I would return. I have rated the restaurant as average because of insufficient opportunity to sample the full range of the menu. However, I feel it has the potential to score more highly.

This hotel/BB/restaurant does not have enough competition to encourage (or force) them to improve. Dated interior, with poor food that is overpriced.Seafood served with no imagination or effort - crab body pulled from shell and cut in half, prawns and shrimps all in their shell. It was almost like the chef wasn't their. I can't even remember what starter we had it was that dull (and only a few days ago)I didn't see the rooms up close but in the pictures shown to us by the staff they looked dated and similar to guest house accommodation in the 80s

A lovely and friendly place for our two families visiting the town and needed to stop for lunch. The food was amazing, very good quality and tasted great! Service was excellent too and very friendly despite the language barrier. We had 5 children between us and they were happy to provide colouring for them and the kids meal selection was good and all the kids enjoyed it!If you are visiting the town and want some lunch then this is recommended.

Had the plat de jour and a starter for â¬13.90 and was absolutely perfect. Great little place near the town centre, worth looking out. Busy at lunchtime so better to book. Well worth of its number 1 rating!

Le Neptune is situated a few minutes walk from both the town centre and beach in the delightfully unpretentious, northern French, seaside resort of Cayeux-sur-Mer.A small establishment, the simple, uncluttered décor perfectly captures a maritime atmosphere - beach shells facing one wall, slivers of grey roof slate like hull planking, laid upon another. We opted for the two course express menu and chose for starters a light, creamy soup made from oreilles de cochon, a leafy maritime leafy vegetable with a flavour similar to sorrel (it grows wild in the Baie de Somme), and a form of chicken pâte; then, for me, a mixed fish casserole in a delicious, slightly spiced sauce, and for my companion a choucroute of cod in a delicate sauce with tender vegetables. The preparation of all four dishes was faultless, presentation imaginative and enhanced by the use of seaside ingredients, most notably, samphire. The supply of fresh bread seemed unlimited and, in the French manner, there was complimentary chilled tap water served in prettily decorated bottles. Wine is available by the glass at a very reasonable 3,25 euros per generous measure.Admittedly, ours was a 'short' menu but the more elaborate meals being served to other diners looked equally delicious.Value for money is exceptional (14.50 Euros 'Express' 17.50 for three courses), and service provided by welcoming, extremely pleasant and impressively efficient staff.Service is not included. Leave a decent tip. The excellent team at Le Neptune deserve it.

We came across this little gem whilst walking through the village. This nautically themed restaurant wouldnt look out of place in Weymouth. The ladies in the party had sweet crepes which were very nice indeed, whilst the chaps had pizza and savoury crepes. The food was superb and we had no complaints on the service either, they didn't rush you. They spoke little English but our french pointing got us what we wanted. A great snack was had by all and the ambience was great as well.

Although most clients were eating fish, we decided to have a steak. Service was polite and efficient. There was a good atmosphere. The steaks were good and cooked as requested. We would eat here again if we visit Cayeux-sur-Mer.
