Histoire Ancienne restaurant in Calais is a classic bistro with 1930s art deco dcor, fresco painting that recalls Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha prints, traditional zinc bar, tables laid in white linen, harlequin floor and open fireplace where local fish an
We were looking for a restaurant with high quality food and service to celebrate the end of our second honeymoon, having spent three weeks travelling around France, Switzerland, the Italian lakes, Florence, Pisa, the Italian Riviera, and French riviera before returning to the UK. We certainly found it in this delightfully attentive and welcoming restaurant. Olivier was charming and helpful in his service, the food was exquisite, tasty and filling but not pretentious. A superb end to a fantastic holiday. Dear MUM-DANCER,Thank you so much for your post, we are delighted to know that your experience in our restaurant has pleased you, kindly regardsClaire COMTE

It was our last evening in France and we chose to eat our dinner in the Channel Restaurant. The prices were much the same as elsewhere and there was inside and outside seating. We ordered the food, having had to prompt the waiter, and the starter of âfruit de merâ came quite promptly. It was good. The main course, part of the 28⬠menu, was delivered after quite a long wait. The restaurant was getting quite busy and there were only two staff waiting on tables. One group decided to walk out after about ten minutes and we watched them cross the road to another restaurant. The âplatâ was good.We then sat for quite some time before we were offered a dessert menu. This was confusing as the dessert selection had been made with the original order. Apparently, the waiter didnât know that weâd ordered the three course menu.We eventually decided that we had to leave as we needed to pick up our car from a car park and check in for our ferry crossing. It was then that the missing dessert arrived. We declined, explaining that it was too late.On paying the bill, I queried the cost, feeling that a gesture could have been made to ameliorate the situation but was told that it was not their problem. We had been sat at the table for 90 minutes which, if there had been no time restraints, might not have been bad at all. The rudeness of the response to my polite request was upsetting and spoiled our evening, leaving the proverbial âsour tasteâ in our mouths. In the UK I would have remonstrated further but my French is not up to the standard required for subtle debate!Poor customer service and a real wolf in sheepâs clothing: I did wonder if his name might be Uriah Heap!HelloI am sorry for all what happened to you....but in Restaurant Le Channel we don t have outside seating.. and we don t have a 28 euros menu.... Best regardsThe Chef

Oh! Mouettes restaurant in Calais boasts some of the very best panoramic views of the port in town. This traditional restaurant, owned by a trio of enthusiastic brothers, specialises in the freshest of wild fish and superb fruits de mer. The interior of t
We visited on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation (recommended!) and got a nice table on the first floor next to the window overlooking the ferries to England entering/leaving the harbour. The fish menu was excellent absolutely fresh. We spend eu70 for two three courses menus, apéritives and both a glas of Chablis. Highly recommended!

This lovely little restaurant is in the zone of the port, non in the center, but it really worth a visit! The idea of composing your meal around some basis ( pizza, salad, tartineand some others) and a big variety of ingredients is genial and quite new...moreover the dish you will receive is really copious and mouth watering! You would can eat more! La patronne is very friendly and nice, and let you all the time to enjoying in preparing the order and to taste it! The place is clean and pleasant, with a nice fleury taste ( visit the toilets of ladies!) and informal atmosphere..absolutely I will return!

Another visit to this amazing restaurant today. Family owned and run, service second to none and Caroline will look after you so well. When we visit Calais we would not go anywhere else. Menu to suit all tastes and budgets. Itâs so French. Thanks for looking after us so well. Good multi storey parking in the block next door, about 40 cents for nearly 3 hours and free parking in the road space permitting.Open all day, they deserve to do well. Thanks again.Tim and Martyn (Welwyn, England)

Stopped here for lunch on day trip to Calais. Food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and well-presented. The three prix fixe menus offered limited but good choice of food. The little extras were provided by the things that were not on the menus, the mises en bouche, the bread, the little extras with coffee, etc. Service was attentive and good. I wish we could eat like this in the UK without paying silly money and being pretentious.

"La Tourello" is a reasoned Bistronomic Restaurant that offers its customers a worked and creative local food in a convivial environment.
An unassuming building, but busy and comfortable inside. We all had the menu at 29 euros. The creme brulee was a very unusual starter. The orange sauce with the chicken was a previously untried combination. Cafe courmands to finish. Presentation, service and cooking were all good.
