Good place to eat in The Citadel with lovely views. We sat outside. Not too busy on a Wednesday at lunch time despite there being 9 of us. Lots to choose from as well as a set menu for just under E 20. Menu in both French and English. Staff helpful despite only speaking little English. Would come again.

This restaurant is nestled in the heart of the Citadelle in Blaye which is well worth a visit. The views are commanding, and it is well worth having a casual drink outside before dinner. The food is high quality, and has some delightful twists on traditional French cuisine. The menu changes daily. The wine list gives a good experience of the region. It is my second time dinning here and it is superb. The Restaurant and the hotel are run by a family (sister and brother) who provide great service. As a Kiwi (New Zealander) it is great meeting people with a passion for rugby and who know so much about our country.

I would suggest Googling "le Petit Port" Blaye and you will see a fair bit of info come up about it. The food was good and the location was excellent.
You would think that being in Blaye that a crisp dry white wine would be ever present think again , not the most welcome of venues

Tucked away off the beaten Citadel track (we had to ask the tourism office for directions), the Auberge des Officiers exceeded even TripAdvisor expectations. We sat out on a garden terrace in front of the restaurant and most tables were already full. They brought us 3 blackboards with the set menu, a la carte and the wines and gave us patient and lengthy explanations. We went for the 24.50 euro menu. My savoury courgette crumble with cheese was memorable, as was the whole roasted camembert with chips which followed. The crème brûlée was melt-in-mouth. The recommended rosé, Château Les Pâques was an excellent choice. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and super-efficient.

We stopped here this afternoon while on a walk through the town, it looked pretty quiet as it was just after lunch and we were pretty hungry so the decision was easy! The two pizzas we had where lovely and the chef even came out and gave our dog a little free ham so an extra point for that! All in all a great little spot with yummy food, friendly staff and a great location just up from the Harbour and cinema. I wish them the best of luck!

With an excellent menu du jour at less than 15 euros, both lunch and dinner it starts attractively and with an appealing choice in the courses, non-fish options are there, but why would you? The starter had the care and attention to detail you would expect in a Michelin starred resto. The main course and dessert continued the delight, absolutely no short cuts taken. It was a very busy night in this popular town centre restaurant, diners without bookings had to be turned away. The wine list is of course Blaye local and extensive. Even the jug of house white was pleasing with the fish courses. Staff dashed about without appearing overworked and to kept up a smooth continuity. Bank holiday menu is 22 Euros and well worth it, but the menu du jour is not to be missed during the week.

After being refused from Gavroche, we searched around town for a second option. Le Carma was a very pleasant surprise! Although the décor and ambiance were not enticing per se, the service was nice, the menus were generous and affordable, and the food was delicious! The sea bass was excellent, the salade landaise was copious and delicious, and the lamb was delectable. The wine selection was almost exclusively hyper local (côtes de blaye), but that can never be reproached in my mind.

We visited at the end of June and managed to communicate although my french is pretty terrible! The owners were very helpful with the menu as my husband is celiac and we therefore had a very tasty 3 courses. The restaurant was busy with locals which is always a good sign - and the patrons were also very friendly! I would highly recommend this restaurant. Well worth hunting for it!

This was part of a vineyard visit. We had an absolutely delicious 4 course lunch with a different wine with each course, all of which were excellent.
